My auto-installer can format a brand new hard drive, install a fresh copy of EvolutionX 1.8.3921 to your xbox, or allow you to use the FTP client to do a backup recovery (copying files from your PC to your Xbox so it works again)...
So, extract the auto-installer exe file and burn the ISO you find inside to either a CD-RW / DVD / DVD-RW (depending on what your Xbox DVD Drive can read).
If you have problems with the network, you might have to extract the ISO aswell and edit the evox.ini file in the root folder, this contains information like your IP, Subnet, Gateway etc. Use c-xboxtool 2 to extract the iso, and again to re-create it.
Hope this helps...

Hey DJB, that's pretty cool that it formats the HD all on it's own. Personally, and maybe fortunately, I have never had to install a bios, dashboard, or format the HD as my machine came preconfigured. I know the day will come when I have to though. It's good to know that the tools are here to accomplish it.
BTW, don't you ever sleep man! It's early where you're at!!
have a good one mate!! _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Yes from memory I'm pretty sure it can. Does anybody else want to verify my thoughts?

it's not working here. the c,d,f,g have 0's by them and when i try to install the number don't move it takes a second to install which tells me that it is not installing right. I used the install disc on my other box and it worked just fine.
it's give me and error 16 when trying to use boot disc. i keep tring it and it boots to disc sooner or later.

im having a the same issue now!
I just upgraded my XBOX HDD to 160gb (all good!) BUT now i have given my old hard drive to my mate so he can use it.
Its loaded with 80gb of games/apps and emulators.. It also has the full dashboard installed but for some reason will not boot in MY XBOX ANYMORE or in MY MATES XBOX..
It finds the HARD DRIVE but gives a error on boot..
If i try to format using SLayers or Xbox-Hq Auto installer it doesnt format anything at all.. Same problem.. Shows C: 0 E:0 F:0 G:0 and also doesnt format or partition..
Im thinking about doing a LOW LEVEL FORMAT in my PC to try and get it working again..
Anyone got any ideas out there.. Im stumped.. I though it was because my OLD HDD was locked using my xbox and would only work in MY XBOX.. THIS IS NOT THE CASE..

Hm, wish I could provide some info but I dunno what to say. Forahobby's idea of a low level format sounds like the only logical way...

Hey RyBack, did you ever get that retail drive working? I'm having similar problems with a drive I added. I'm stumped. Did the low level erase work? Thanks.

No i never did get it to work.
You have to unlock a retail drive with the original motherboard and i didn't have that.
You can use the evox to unlock it if you are on the original mother board. i believe. i just used an old 80G drive from my Mac. I blanked it out first then used the Hq-autoinstaller. _________________ -RyBack

Thanks. I'll try unlocking it and formating it again. I'll let you know if it works.
