Well the softmod is more easily reversible, however the TSOP is like a mod chip,you won't service screen it if you do something stupid, but you can't get on live. Just be a bitch if you ever decided to upgrade the bios, you would have to set up the jumpers and such.... TSOP is not for someone uncomfortable with working with the actual hardware. Softmod can be easier to install, since a lot is automated and scripted. Both have their drawbacks.
So if you are able to be very careful and you are sure you won't have nincompoops (spelling?) playing with your xbox and boot something they shouldn't on to live or something.
I would say a modchip would be the safest, removable, lots of options in newer bios, and can restore a xbox to stock if you have a back up or an unaltered c and e partition _________________ XBOX v1.6

TSOP I think can only be flashed to a 1.4, somone please correct me if I am wrong. ANd the softmod is any version as long as you have the old style of the game needed. _________________ XBOX v1.6

1.0 - 1.4's can be tsop'd
don't know about the latest model
though the pictures i looked at
claiming to be a 1.7 or whatever
looked just like a tsop flashable
one.
I can't imagine ms would go back on
them selfs so i'd say the pic i've
seen wasn't right.
