Post subject: xbox hd in a pc?

I just upgraded my xbox hd, and now since i have a spare hd laying around I might as well throw it in one of my pcs to store some songs or something on. So how do I make the box hd pc compatible? I tried the method on some other website that required me to download hdlock, hddisabl, and set my drive to slave or something. I was able to unlock the drive but when I try to run hddisabl it says drive is not ready. Anyone know any alternate ways to accomplish this task?

How is your current Xbox modded? Chip or TSOP?.

If you have a chip that has HDD Tools like a SmartXX, Xenium Ice, or X3 just put the stock HD back in your xbox and unlock it. Then you can FDISK it on your PC and format it for the PC.

If you don't, you can always just install evox on the HD and use the locking feature, or if you can burn an autoinstaller that has some apps you can launch, do it that way.

Bottom line, unlock the stock HD with your modded Xbox, pop it in a PC and format away.

Sounds good to me..

Just know once you unlock the HD it wont be able to load in the xbox again (without relocking)... I know that you are planning on popping in the PC, but just wanted to tell you that.

i'd keep it for a backup if anything should go wrong with your new hdd. no idea what could go wrong but my stock hdd is still sitting in an antistatic bag bubble wrapped and stuck in a box in the closet.... but i might jsut be a packrat i guess (and my pc already has 300 gigs of hdd space Smile)

xbox stock hd are so tiny in terms of space, what would you do with it? you are right, keep it as a backup even though i'd bet you'll never need it! Laughing
