I can't think of a better place to ask this question. I have a xbox that needs a new dvd drive. The xbox is unmodded and I want it to stay that way. What drive can I use to replace it? And can I still play on live with the new drive? _________________ [/b]XBOX v1.? (4 or 5)[/b]:

You can use any DVD drive you like. Changing out the broken dvd for a new one will not get you banned for xbl. _________________ Xbox v1.3

Seriously though, your best bet is ebay... Find a reputable seller and grab theirs. I have seen them on retail sites and the prices are frigging insane. I am out of stock, and really until I buy some used Xbox's again probably will be out for a bit. My supplier who I used to go through is out of the Xbox business for good, they took too huge of a hit on their last order of $15,000.00 worth of machines. Got way too many broken machines and lost money in the long run.
Prices I would pay for drives:
Thompson (new with 2003 manufacture date sticker) $24.00 plus shipping:
Phillips (used or refurb) $50.00 plus shipping
Samsung (used or refurb) $63.00 plus shipping.
Every once in awhile though, you can find better deals on the sammy's and phillips on ebay. I found a refurbed phillips for $35.00 plus shipping once.
