Hello everyone, this is my first time modding an xbox. I am using the softmodding method. I burned the auto-installed iso file to a DVDR but the xbox will not read it. I have a thompson drive. Do any one have any suggestions? Also, do i need the splinter cell, or mech assault files....from what i understood they are suppose to be in the auto-installer deluxe image. Can any one point me in the right direction? I have been trying to do this for the past 5 days and i have read alot of articles but i just dont understand. you need to get teh Softmod Installer Deluxe and follow the direcions that come with it, keep the Autoinstaller though, you'll want it after you softmod.
i also highly suggest doing some reading up. you also will need either a modded xbox to transfer the game save onto a memory card, a USB adaptor and a usb thumb drive, or an action replay to transfer the files onto the Xbox.
Aswell as needing the ORIGINAL version of either Mechassualt, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, or 007.

Thanks for the quick reply...I also have the softMod Installer, i just didnt know what to do with it... I was trying to go to xbox.cim and get the free keyboard adapter they had but they dont have that promotion anymore. I guess i have to buy the Action Replay. From what i understand i have to transfer the files in the softMod Installer to the xbox, and then run mechassualt, and load the "save" game. Am I correct so far? Like I said earlier , I have read so much but for some reason i just dont understand it....there are just so many things and i tend to get confused. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

the free adaptor offer ended in December, i was gonna order one to but never got around to it if you have an extra break away part of the cord you can make a home made adaptor outta that and a USB extension cord. anyways your last post was right on the money :p

Great, I think im catching on. I think i have a a couple of break away cords and USB cords laying around. Since this is my first time modding ANYTHING i think it'll be cool for be to do the USB adapter as well. I think I'm capable of doing that. How do I start?

Hey Whats up? Ok I ran the SoftMod installer through Splinter Cell, I did MS back up, I install the SoftMod, Now i need to install Evolution X or UnleashedX. Do i do both or only one? If only one what is the difference> What do you recommend? Thanks

Wow, i guess i did it, so far....I was stuck for a while with Error 21....but somehow i fixed it. I am currently using unleashX
I bought a new 200gb hard drive and i want to put it on this xbox and remove the retail hard drive. Any suggestions? Thanks.
I dont have a chip mod xbox, i only have my soft-mod xbox.
