Hey ppl.
Just thought I'd make a quick post to say I've successfully installed Gentoox Home Edition v3.0c onto my Xbox.
The installation was quite easy, without having to format any drives. Basically it sets up a 3 GB rootfs file (stored at either E or F Drive), a 250 MB swapfile (same location as rootfs file), config files, and gentooxx.xbe (which is the executable).
It does have proper Network / Internet support also, I looked at my first webpage with it about 20 minutes ago. There was manual configuring ofcourse that needed to be done (IP Addresses etc.) but the tutorials provided on the site were very helpful.
The only problem I've found is that I have to use my CD-RW to boot it, as it's not booting normally from the EvoX Dashboard. I'm thinking this could be because I didn't flash the BIOS to install Gentoox like optioned. So, more than likely you'll have to use your Gentoox Bootable CD-RW to boot it every time (a small setback but I'd rather do that than flash my BIOS). Dunno if the XBE's could be patched to work somehow without this BIOS but I guess it's not drastically important.
If anyone decides to have a play with this, please post about it. I feel this is the one OS in the whole Xbox-Linux Distro collection that deserves all the support it can get, mainly for the fact it runs on FATX Partitions.

It sounds just like the old LinuX ManDRAKE XBOX install i put on my xbox ages ago. You could add a line to evox but it wouldnt boot either.. Then i made the CDRW boot disc and all was sweet
been messing about with linux again over the last few days and now i`m finally getting somewhere with it.
I`m currently running a fully native gentoox home 4.0 on a stock 10GB hdd & have a second stock 10GB hdd that replaces the dvd drive and is usable at
the same time giving me approx 16GB of storage space.
Finally got a bittorent working on an xbox!
was amazing watching the xbox downloading and compiling it`s own software
soon, very soon, I`m gonna kick that m$
sh1t off my pc & go linux all the way.
Hey thats sweet. So how does this work? Where can I get this stuff and learn how to do it? I wanna open my xbox to its full opportunites. ANy help is great guys. _________________ Moddingbandit

you can choose to either install to your e or f drive ( as long as f is at least 4GB ) or a fully native install, to do a native install from the gentoox cd you`ll have to have a 20GB+ hdd. this will destroy all your files
currently on your hdd so back it all up.
if you want to do a native install on a stock hdd, follow the guide in the native install thread ( if you dont know much about linux substitute the gentoox pro distro with a gentoox home distro and follow the tut WORD 4 WORD).
