I just got a 250 gb hard drive and i want to use my old 120 gb out of my xbox as an external hard drive but the computer cant read it. what do i do so that the hd will work on my computer. Thank you _________________ xbox 1.4

If you haven't done it, reformat the drive. _________________ 2 Xbox V 1.0

160 gb hard disc (yes you can install one without a modchip)

I put in the auto installer v 1.3 disk i have and formated the drive and it still can't be read by my computer. _________________ xbox 1.4

I just installed a 160GB hard drive into my xbox, but it only gives me the free space of 120 gigs. Could the bios and the slayer evox auto installer 2.6 take up that much space. Doubts.

Im guessing that the other space in in your g drive. i just installed a 250 gb and only 120 went to the f and the rest to the g. Anybody got any ideas for my question? thanks guys. _________________ xbox 1.4

Sorry if you already stated this, but I didnt catch it. Is the drive unlocked? If you have the drive still locked your PC wont be able to use it.
Also, make sure you put jumper to slave. Then, you are going to have to wipe the HD clean of all partitions I would imagine. I know there is a way, but I just have never done that before.

Unlock the drive then place it in the pc with the correct jumper settings, then use a trusty old dos command "fdisk" if you are running XP you can also right click on My Computer, go to Manage, then go to the disk management screen. Here you can repartition that drive, and format it for use in windows. _________________
