Okay I'm about through with this. I have read just about every forum dealing with this set up...blah blah blah.
Anyways, I put the X-chip in my xbox. Soldered every point as I was supposed to. Someone suggested adding a little more solder, so I did. The lpc ports have plenty of solder on them...but not too much. The joints are very shiny. The chip is getting power. I get a FRAG. I've loaded the evox v1.3 which is a 4mb file to reload the entire Bios I assume. Then I loaded about four different bioses into the remaining slots. I made sure the 256 went in the 256 slots. I have loaded the M8+_16.bin a few variations of that, and some evox 1.1_1.6.bin. I cannot get past this FRAG error, and I have rechecked my soldering job. Does anyone have a different forum, different idea, different mod chip...anything that can help me out a little. I have already reordered a different mod chip, and I am going to try put that in a different machine. Hmm okay, if noone has any ideas could I borrow a boot please.

If you disconnect the LFRAME connection from your chip and boot the Xbox does your machine boot normally or do you still get a frag?
How did the LPC rebuild go? Did you check for continuity between all of your connections.
Usually, with a 1.6 the problem is the LPC rebuild.

When I disconnect the chip from the LPC port, it does the same thing. All my soldering points are shiny, and I was suggested to add a little more at the lpc port, and I did. The one thing I read I did wrong was load my chip with a new bios after I did an initial boot. I did not read that article until later. I followed the solder job to the T. I will post some pics when I feel like taking out those 10 screws again!! What does that narrow it down to though?

I have the original hard drive, and I have not loaded anything onto it. Is there a post that explains how to load stuff onto your harddrive before you have connected via ftp?

I agree and feel the same!
I have read and read every forum and faq and blah....
All that I want to do is run linux on the xbox (maybe softmod)??
I have read plenty of great faqs and how-tos that say the softmods work great. That is fine but there always seems to be some hint about it not working with current xboxes (1.6???).
I just bought mine and it says manufacture date of 11/26/04. I assume this means it is a 1.6. <=== please do not refer me to a guide on serial number lookups because my serial does not fit in that guide (again, I assume because it is 1.6 or 1.6b).
Does anyone know if the current UXE and so on work on our new xbox?
I do want to say that there is a huge amount of great and interesting info being given from some obviously talented people. What is bugging me is those little hints and disclaimers about (not supported on 1.6xbox, etc...)
Thank you for any help!
Left the above rant up for others to lol!
I have found good information and do appreciate it in this forum!!
for other new persons, check that 1.6 section of softmods in the forums. It really helped me.

If you stuffed up your flash you should be able to purchase a programmer for the x-chip from the easybuy2000.com website.. You will just have to read up how to use it.. It cant be too hard.
