Any help anybody could give 2 put a hd in a ver1.6 xbox?

I am assuming you have chipped your machine?
Once machine is chipped you have to flash it with a hacked bios. For the 1.6 you should use a LBA48 hacked M8 bios. If you have a 1.6b you need to use the M8 plus bios.
Once you have your chip flashed, then pop in the new HD and use an autoinstaller to format, prepare, and load your dashboard and applications on the HD.
You should read up a little more to get some basic information. That way, you can ask a more specific question about the entire process. Read up on some tutorials. Look into how to burn the autoinstaller, stuff like that.

N[color=green]o i havent put a chip in yet but have been looking at ones 2 buy, any suggestions.
I have been reading Tutorials but i dont understand what the different ver of box will effect what i do?what chip do you suggest and what size hd, i want to be able 2 fit atleast 30 games.[/color]

Actually, the version of your machine will dictate what bios you use, and in some cases what chip you should buy. Also the method that you want to install the chip.
Since you have a version 1.6 here is personally what I would do.
I would install either a Xenium Ice or a SmartXX mod chip. I would also purchase a LPC rebuild PCB.
They come with the SmartXX v2's, but not the Xenium Ice. Then, you are going to need the M8 bios. If you are putting in a HD under 137GB then the regular M8 bios will do. But, if you are putting one in larger than you will need an M8 bios that has the LBA48 hack. We have what you need.
You just need to figure out what it is you want to do and then we'll help.
If you decide you don't want to do the work yourself, there are a few of us here that chip machines for people. Whether you are in the states, UK, Australia, or wherever, we'll find someone to do it for you.

Soft modding is another option if you dont have a chip yet.....i just softmodded a 1.6b and put a 200 gig hdd in with very little problems...check the softmodding forums for details on that method too.
