Posted: Tue Dec 28, 2004 10:09 pm Post subject: ltools v1.8 softmod on v1.6b xbox problem...
I tried to softmod my xbox using ltools and ran into problems....I tried using ltools v1.8, my box is version 1.6b. The exploit ran fine, but when i tried to install UXE my xbox crashed, the video got distorted and the orange leds came on. I left my box for about 45 mins then shut it down. I can still boot from game discs, and so can still acess the MA exploit to boot ltools 1.8, however anything i try to do from there causes the same problem. When trying to boot to dashboard i get error 13. Since i cant get to the dashboard i cant try a different exploit. Also on the itools screen i get and IP address, however i can ftp to it, or even ping it when networked (through router)to my pc. I've disabled all firewalls ect. Any ideas? ltools does give me the hdd password....can i use that to try a different approach?

On a 1.6 it will distort the graphics, but it has that orange led as a safety mechanism, it will be orange when you don't need to turn it off, then it will flash green when it is safe to do so. The best option to ftp to it may be using a crossover cable since it has a static ip address, I don't recall a menu in ltools to change the ip, that would be something that you need to change in one of the config files. However you can't without a dash.
I would try to uninstall it, and see where it goes, just wait for it to flash green, give it an hour or so before you give up. Sometimes it may take a while. If that doesn't work, I would then try to reinstall it, but give it an hour or so until trying something else. I would also write down the hdd key, you could use that for future use, if anything does go wrong. _________________

I just modded my 1.6 with splinter cell but same thing happened to mine just keep waiting took me about 2 hours lol... When the light flashes green its safe to turn it off took me about 3 more hours waiting for the thing to actually say it was safe on the screen

I got the same problem with the ltools install version 1.75 from 007AUF. Screen goes all funky and orange light. I gave up after a half hour assumiing it had failed. Should the 1.75 work or do I need to wait for a 1.8 for 007AUF? Or do I just need to wait longer for the install to proceeed?

After re-copying from the memory card to the hard drive and doing the install again (all blue button options) it worked fine in only 10 seconds.

I gotten the 1.6 version to be softmodded but Heck, I diidn't use Ltools I tried but it but I like my way better. When will people learn to back up their virgin xbox c drive before they install any of the hack opion?!?! Why????????

If you know how to redo or add a script in the config file add a tab and linked folder so it can access a different xbe app so you could have a tab that links to folder called apps and in the apps folder put in the evox, unleashx for temorary dash oh and also you need to have a way to create the foder (use box explorer) and since you can't with ltools and it seems that you can't ftp, use a different gamehack oo7:AUF and remove the file exploit with your MA. Why? because you can't go into your m$ dash to copy gamesave and you can run the exploite save through memory card on 007 AUF but remember to resign the habbi key to gamesave hack on the .xbe files that includes the temp dash that I told you (remember to change the ini or config file) and box explorer you can even fit it on the memorycard. It's just eaier having the AUF 007 for emergency ftp use. Instead of the xploite program just put the dash of your choice and rename it to default.xbe with ini,config. So this was you can atleast upload your virgin state dashboard and try again. Sorry for not clearly describing, too busy getting my Steel Battalion hooked up!
