This is probly a stupid question but, I got my Xbox moded by some dude ages ago, and just today I opened my xbox to ready myself for installing a new HDD and i can see the mod chip anywhere. I think its an Executer cause when i bootup it says executer2 at the bottom of the screen? Is it because my bios just flashed or something??. Reason i want to know is, I want to install a new HDD using SLayers Auto Installer and will it still work if i only have a bios flash????

The chip should be pretty obvious. It should stick up off the motherboard and have "Xecuter" written on it. It'll be to the left when you look at the top with the front closest to you.
It's a possibility the guy charged you for the chip and install, and just gave you a softmod. Getting us some pics would really help.

yeah i think he just gave me a soft mod, cause i know what a chip looks like and where they go and there is deffinently nothing there, if it is a softmod can i still use Slayers Auto Installer 2.6??

I think you can... To be honest, though, I'm not even entirely sure how a softmod works...
Is it possible to contact the person who installed it for you and get a refund? If you paid for a chip, you deserve a chip.
I think a fellow by the name of tsman or something is the softmod pro around here.

if you booting the xecuter bios and you dont have a chip installed
then the xbox tsop was flashed ,

I'd be pretty jacked if I was led to believe my machine was being chipped. Plus, doesn't that screw you for XBL? If the TSOP is flashed, then how can it load the MS bios. I am TSOP flashing challenged, but I assume that to be accurate.
I have heard about a lot of modders ripping people off saying they are installing chips and they are doing TSOP flashes only.

softmod is modding without flashing the tsop
you can also boot hacked bioses with a softmod from the harddrive
but you need special bioses that are bootable from media and use software that can boot it from the harddrive , dont know the name of it _________________ Xbox v1.0/1.1/1.5/1.6a
