I was given a softmodded xbox but it seems parental controls we set and alot of games wont play. Trying to reset them does nothing at reboot it reverts back i'm guess the softmod blocks changes? Any easy fix for this?

I think the parental controls only feature when using a genuine NTSC MS dashboard. If the Xbox is PAL and then region swapped to NTSC there are still no parental control settings made available.
So it not only depends on that, the softmod but also the dashboard being used as to exactly what parental controls are available and how to access them.
If it is the MS dash settings causing the problem then this YT video explains how to disable it:-
I don't know because I've never fully explore XBMC4Kids, Rocky5's child use 'safe' adaptation of XBMC4Xbox, but I would guess that has parental control settings built in.
