Using AFS Explorer to look in the DOA3 file from the original disc "loadfile.afs" for costumes I found a somewhat strange thing. Along with the full set of in-game unlockable costume files for each character there are two additional pairs of file sets which do not appear from the names to relate to any character unlockable or not.
The file pairs are bni00.cat/bni00.xpr, bni01.cat/bni01.xpr and chi00.cat/chi00.xpr. I've also found that the kas10.cat/kas10.xpr pair does not work unlike all the other kas (Kasumi) files found in loadfile.afs. It displays the character as invisible.
I'm sure that is not intentional. With some of the DOA2 unofficial costumes' downloads you can find that is typical of a broken .cat/.xpr file pair. But this kas10 set is from original files not any messed around costume set. I've repeated it twice to make sure it was not some extraction mistake; it was not. There may be even more like this as I have not tested all of the other character costume sets yet.
Unfortunately the tools to extract from the DOA3 .xpr image files are now not available so what they actually contain is a mystery. BTW XPR Express does not work on these files.
So does anyone know what those bni and chi file pairs might be and why the kas10 ones do not work? I'm intrigued that's all?
