Hi, all, first post and as usual looking for guidance. Sorry to be so demading off the bat
Anyway, i cant get version 4.53 to boot past the splash screen, the one with the large red X in a box.
I tried it initially with a brand new drive in, i then got prompted to format the various partitions at which point the auto installer splash comes up, stays a while, goes blank and then comes back again. It repeats this forever!
I have burnt it to different media, with extras, without, the lite version but always the same. I have tried slayers 2.7 and that works fine so i am really confused.
Background is this:
Xbox crystal given to me for nothing, version 1.6b and Xecuter 2.6 modchip (solderless).
For some reason i can get slayers but i cant get MS Dash at all. I am unsure what bios is installed as it just says unknown. I have burnt a bios disc with 5.035 for my version and tried to flash but it says Halting.
My network connection doesnt appear to work, its says i have a link but the mac address comes up all zeroes so i cant ftp in.
On the bank selector it tells me flash version is 3.0.3 which i have read is correct for v1.6b
Can any one guide me please? I guess the mod is installed okay as i can use slayer.
My four problems to summise are:
No MS Dash, No network, Cant install A.I.D and BIOS claims to be unknown.
Any help on any of these would be really appreciated.
Sorry to be long winded but i thought it best to let it all out
To add, i do lock the drive to try to access MS Dash but that doesnt work either

Damn this is crazy for a noob like me, i tried to run the babylon DVD but it gets to the unleashX splash and does the same as the A.I.D one, fades to black splash and repeat. I dont get it! _________________ XBOX v1.6b Crystal PAL:

Put the disc in, turn off the XBOX and turn it back on

Hi there, thanks for the reply.
I tried that but it is still the same, regardless of if i use Babylon or AID (Full or light).
I cannot seem to get to a menu. The splash screen just fades in and out with a bit of disc access thrown in. I do get in the top left corner a few graphics that are reminiscent of the old matrix screen saver (if you know what i mean).
I dont know if this helps but when i ejected the disc on one occasion after i got bored of looking at the splash screen i saw a message that told me i was out of resources on a couple of partitions. But i only saw this once.

It has just dawned on me!
If using Slayers Installer (which boots fine) and i try to boot into or install UnleasX as the default dash then it does a very similar thing to my Babylon/AID problem.
It hangs and doesnt go anywhere.

looked at your sigil (and subject) and two things come to mind....
1, hardmod!
2, multiple attempts to remedy the problem has left a "mark" where it's not needed! (BSOD/suspended activity)
......
i don't possess a hardmodded xbox so i'm not certain there! (voicing possibilities)
get your eeprom.bin to hand, create a babylon disk (the xbhdm part) and rebuild the C:/ volume from scratch using an ide/pata compatible computer!
......
hardmods are not my area!
if it's what's causing your problems, the experts in those fields may help?!

try installing another dash using your previous steps...
if they install okay, it's possible something resident on C:/ volume is causing the BSOD/hang?! if so, redo C:/ volume from scratch! Try a C and E rebuild using AutoBuilder 5.1. That will give you a virgin enviro, if the issue persists after you KNOW its a BIOS/Chip issue
