I have one other Xbox missing it's DVD drive so I wanted to try and clone a Seagate 80GB HDD on it, everything was going well in XboxHDMaker until I got to option 8, when I entered quit it popped up a whole bunch of crap and never rebooted. I tried this 2 or 3 times and ended up having the same problem, So questions.
1. What am I doing wrong?
2. Do you have to have the Old HDD in order for it to work? I tried putting in my all ready 500GB modded HDD and it just blunk red.
3. Am I screwed?

First off you never try to clone a drive from a different xbox since the eeprom code wont match Second cloning an 8gb drive takes between 1 and 3 hours let alone a 500. third you need a drive of equal or larger size, its literaly impossible to clone a 500 to an 80. And finaly need the error codes just it didnt work or it did some stuff tells me nothing.

What you need to do is hotswap the HDD from the machine thats missing the dvd drive and mod it so you can get the eeprom, then build the 80. But without the DVD drive you will always get an error code at boot up so unless you plan on swapping out dvd drives when youyre gonna use it it will just be a paperweight. Even a broken drive will work just as long as the XBOX can detect it at boot up

If you can hear audio but you don't see any video your video chip in the Xbox may be shot. Try a different set of AV cables that work on another Xbox. If it still does not show video, then the video chip is done for. _________________

If you have any other xboxes around that you can try the cables on see if they work. If video does show up on other xboxes but not this one, I would assume the video chip is gone.
If you don't have any other xboxes to test on or you really want to be sure that the video chip is bad in the xbox in question, go on Ebay and get yourself a new AV cable set. _________________

Nope. Wont work you cant use regular drive imaging programs because they cant read or write fatx. Its very simple to use Pimped to clone a drive. First hook up both drives to your PC (both must be unlocked) The drive that is to be cloned must be set to slave and the drive that the info is going to must be master (its fine to run them on the same IDE cable/channel). Now boot Pimped and pick option 1 then type xboxhd, now choose build drive from scratch, let it format all partitions(if youre worried about formatting the wrong drive dont hook up the source drive till done the format). As soon as it asks to copy files say no. Now pick option 8 if it freezes just manualy power off the PC. Now pick option 1, then type xbrowser (DO NOT type xboxhd) By default the master drive will be the one on the right. Now highlight the C drive on the left (slave drive remember master is always labeled as devhda) hit F5 then use your down arrow key to highlight dive into subdir if exists and hit enter, do this for C, E, F, G once done either pick F10 then type reboot or manualy power off the PC. Unhook the source drive and reboot now pick option 3 and lock the drive. Id do a video but Im down to a laptop for HDD builds so its just not possible

Actually you do, what they fail to mention is the fact that the partition table needs to be FATX which Ghost cant do and will need to be prepared with HDM or Pimped. Theres a reason why all these years weve been stuck using homebrew apps like Chimp and XBOXHDM and its because programs like Acronis and Ghost just cant do it properly. It will copy your drive but as soon as you put it in your XBOX and turn it on you will get either an error 13 or an error 5. And if you try to set up the partitions like they say after the fact, boom you just erased all the data you copied since the XBOX will require the partition to be formatted. Its just one of many old tuts that have been debunked but left up for whatever reason. The other downside is your drive wont be locked and you will still need to use DOSLocking Tools, XBOXHDM or Pimped or a hotswap to lock it. In the long run your better off just using Pimped or HDM to begin with and save yourself the time and hassle.
The other downside is you wont be able to get support for the Ghost method as XBOX-Scene has virtualy no support for XBOX1 anymore and Im sure many of the other mods here will agree with me when I say I wont offer support for a process that doesnt work. So save yourself a huge headache and just use HDM to clone (takes a very long time) or use Pimped which will do it in about 30-45 minutes
If you dont want to use Pimped due to the VIP req I can hook you up with my latest version via torrent, but I require a report back on your experiences with it in the SID5 Pimped thread. Its your call, Im just trying to give you the easiest and best option for what you want to do
