First off I am only doing this xbox to learn more I already have a
chipped box, now I soft modded a 1.4 xbox and put xbmc on it using xbmcid 1.43 everything went great, till it was time to upgrade my hard drive. Chimp would not work just a black frozen screen witn 2 lines of text. So I began a new adventure in trying to use my pc, with xboxhdm now I need my C, Eeprom, and E backupsfor this program, The problem began here. going step by step in a video tutorial(while doing softmod) it only had me backup C, and Eeprom, (and I do have them on my pc too) but i never backedup E so i tried to back up E using xbmcid and now it is gone. cant find it. now machine will start with xbmcid and I can play around a little bit in there but it will not let me load xbmc, also some how i dont remember but screen said I had no dash (it was not a xbmc screen) so here I am again, can I do anything to save this, I would really like to start fresh but am afraid due to the possibility of bricking it. but with all that said Im having fun. Thank guys

ok, you have your ms dash and eeprom.
use xboxhdm and just built a new hd (option 1)
after you make the new drive, reboot, lock the drive and throw it in the xbox.
at that point, do the softmod.
to me, that is the simple way.

that is the way I was thinking, I did this last night and going by the xbmc users manual but program was operating different than the manual ! and I had locking issues that I dont remember. so I will try again. should I do this with my new HD or the stock one? to me it makes more sense to just do this to the new hard drive... what do ya think ?

You have a couple options. First is build the drive just using c and eeprom, when you through it in the xbox it should build e, but may give an error. Option 2 is to make a live disc (take avalaunch dash files use cxbox tools to make an iso, burn to disc and cold boot) with luck you can then get in via FTP and make a copy of the e drive for xboxhdm. Last option is try to remove softmod and re mod it then ftp over c e and eeprom

I dont know if this makes any difference in my options but I now found I can get into what i think is avalaunch screen and MS screen that will allow me to start splinter cell but will not show the sid game saves that i need to softmod over, but if I go to the screen that shows memory it will show the 2 files ?

If the Avalaunch screen comes up write down the IP, leave the XBOX running, FTP in and copy off E drive, C drive and EEProm.bin. Something else you can try is using Ultimate Boot Disc 4 to restore MSDash (requires a vild Cdrive backup) or you can try a semi manual Mod removal
The video is for removing Ndure but the procedure is almost exactly the same
Heres a Vid of FTPing in for Dash files with a live disc running, I think its your best bet for a full recovery
Something else you can do depending how comfortable you are with HDD builds is if you have another XBOX (Not chipped) FTP off the c and e put in the EEPROM from the box thats giving you issues make your XBOXHDM disc and build the drive. The only file that has to be from the XBOX thats messing up is the EEPROM.bin. If you dont have acces let me know and Ill upload a XBOXHDM with c and e and you just put in your EEPROM

Heh thanks man !! I did use xboxhdm today before you sent me the link I was just going to try to insert C: and the Eeprom into the proper folders, I got the ISO burnt, did the whole harddrive thing, came to the reboot to lock, program cant find my Eeprom, now this was a backed up Eeprom ater the sid5 and now it seems to have more files than i need here is a screen shot of Eeprom file opened, Do i just put the Eeprom Bin in the Eeprom folder or this whole file

Should be just one file and it should be called EEPROM.bin, should say beside it 1kb but if you go to properties or hold the arrow over it it should say 256bytes
I just blew up your pic and it appears the top right hand 1 is the eeprom file you want

Thats why Im here no point having a softmod and HDD build expert on site if he's not gonna share his wisdom. Just dont ask me for help with chipping I know jack shit about it.

After doing softmod with the splinter cell Im having trouble getting xbmc in using xbmc 1.43, I think it is because Im trying to do a one click install for softmod ? it keeps freezing while loading, should I at this point only be loading dashboards, apps, emus, ect... ? since it is already softmodded.
