Hello HQ,
I have brought a s/h xbox of ebay and found it has an Aladdin Advantage chip. It booted with the occasional error 21, I have since formatted and removed slayer and installed the latest AID 4.51 using the one click mod chip install option. It now boots with the occasional 05 error when the drive tray is open or a PAL game is inserted. I have also attempted to lock the HDD.
The box came with a free NTSC disc which boots everytime without any issues(from cold boot or evox dash). When inserting a PAL disc the xbox starts with error 05 or boots to the evox dash with no disc listed. In the MS dash it reads disk is damged or dirty. I have changed all regional settings within the system config but it appears not to resolved anything regarding the PAL version games.
I'm tempted to install the orignal MS dash from the AID disc and see what happpens but would like a little advice first.

Sorry no one seen your topic but we have all been extremely busy.
what bios are you running on your modchip. It could be the bios which is causing your xbox to boot different files/config.
if you haven't looked into it already i would suggest trying the enigmah video selector application for your xbox.. Boot it up and see what your xbox setup like.. YOu can change between nstc and pal. See if that helps any.
If not, What i would do is just like you said.. Put the original xbox dashboard on it and see if the error persists. I have a PAL machine (well several) and they all boot and play NTSC or PAL games.
