Thought I'd installed the softmod successfully, although there was a solid orange ring. When I turned off the Xbox and turned it back on (Installer DVD still in drive), I get the red/green flashing ring of death and the "Your Xbox requires service" message. There's a "13" to the left of this message. I read up on this error message in the installer manual but I've gotten nowhere.

Have I just completely hosed my Xbox? If so, a moment of silence, please... it's been a faithful companion for the last ten years.

Can you still boot retail games, or possibly any burned media ?

Its still alive, but it might be a pain to fix.

If you cannot boot any disc at all it looks like you will have to either chip or hotswap to fix it.
