Did you set XBMC for the higher def in the settings menu?

Are you sure the component cable is plugged in green to green blue to blue and so on?

I know it sounds dumb but some times the little things hold you back and the options are only grayed out when the xbox cant detect them.

is there anyway to verify that i have the 1080i activated other than just checking the box? i set it up so that i have the dash in 720 and then to use the best rez for videos. i just dont see to much of a difference. I know the old addage garbage in garbage out applies but even with a perfect avi i dont really see it. allow the dash is much much crisper and the text is very clean.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't 720 the highest the old xbox goes?

NO, 720 is about as high as a game will go but the dash and flix on mine hit 1080i.
Most TVs will post the def in the corner of the screen or you will see the screen flash flicker for a sec when you switch from 480 to 720 or 720 to 1080.

i think i got all sorted out. On my tv i can also adjust the display be it 720 or 1080. I dont really care about the games being higher i just want my movies up. i noticed that when i turn the xbox on my tv pops up a display and says 720 until it hits the dash. then when i go to a movie and watch it the tv will (if i leave the channel display up) change from 720 to 1080 @60 hz which im assuming then that everything is working right.
