I swear, after this, I won't be a noob anymore, lol
first question, I'm still on my xbox oem drive... now, the F show's as 0bytes free... but to my knowledge, there's nothing on it... it won't even let me browse it in SmartFTP or the FileManager on my xbox... is this an oem drive thing?
second, I know posting about games and copying are frowned upon, but this is a good one... I have a game on my HD... from a real disc that I own... but I was wondering since it's only like 423Megs, is there a way to burn a copy of it to CD-R, and not a DVD-R... I don't like using my orginal discs just in case. I do this with ALL my console games, not just xbox. I would rather have a bad day with a backup than the real disc. GameStop won't let me just swap disc's if my console scratches the hell out of it. But if it's just a backup, I'll make another one. But anyway, I tried this once before, but it didn't read the Cd-R backup, and instead of using a 4+ gig disc, is there a way to get the xbox to read a Cd-R backup of a game?

If the HDD is stock you wont have an F drive, if the HDD has been upgraded you might need to run xbox partitioner to access the space.
( be careful that App can kill your xbox so back up the eeprom.)
As for game back ups use qwix 101, put the game in the xbox disk drive and QWIX FTP to make an ISO and burn that to a DVD-R or CD if the game will fit.

If I was you I'd just upgrade to a bigger hdd and put all your games on the hdd. Thats what I do, just skip the back ups and put the games on my hdd. A lot easier than always swapping discs and the load times are faster. Makes a huge difference when you travel, you don't have 5000 game discs with you lol. _________________

As soon as I can convince the wife to get a nice big HD for the xbox, I will be... for now, I'm stuck loading one game on my stock HD... usually it's the big loaders... currently playing HalfLife 2... I can tell you, the loading time's are insane from disc, and there are almost NO loading times from HD! It's comparable to the PC version!
Next will be Halo 1 then 2, lol
If there was a way to load games from a Network drive, I'd be in heaven... I have a nice big 500Gig drive sitting on my router right now, and could toss a few ISO's on there, lol

not posible.....
however if you take out the drive out of your network drive, and put it in you XBOX, then you can use the XBOX as an FTP server, and maybe even as an SMB server. So if you leave it on 24/7 you could use it as an NAS again.

Can't put it in the xbox, it's an sata drive, and my wife would kill me if I tampered with it... it's formated as EXT2 and I don't have enough free space on any of my other computers to store everything, lol

Well he could put the game on the network drive but the load times would be even slower than reading from disk. _________________
