Sorry for the title guys as I know its not the best but I could not think what else to put lol.
Anyway I am running XMBC and I have backed up some DVD video content onto the HDD and If I want to play it I can go to the Movie folder click on the movie file and browse the VOB files and such.
However this looks crap and I was wondering if there was anyway to get XMBC to grab the summary . plot , and case images as such to make it look better and have a nice simply play button rather than having to select the VOB file to play from .
I know this sounds confusing but I hope someone gets what I am saying. Thanks ! _________________ XBOX V1.6

Good Morning 1701, I leave all my video content on my PC 320gb. I have three xboxes on my network Playroom,Front room,Bedroom (wireless) and I have xbmc video browse my PC folder (Movies) when I place a new movie in the PC folder I select video in xbmc and select information or settings and it goes out to the internet to the IMDB and places a thumbnail of the movie in the video folder which looks real cool if you select the thumbnail you can get what the movies about, actors, directors, or just play the movie I've had some difficulty the last few upgrades with xbmc of actually getting the thumbnail but the movie shows up with a directors scene marker and what ever title I put on it in the PC. I am sure that most if not all is the same if I stored the movies on the xbox HD I just did not want to use all the space up with movies. this probably didn't help you but were both new here and I thought I would throw some dialog at you . Yeah thats interesting. In my case I would want to keep the movies on my Xbox. However what script or programme are you using to go out and pull the relevant info for each movie ?
Thanks again. _________________ XBOX V1.6

IMDB is one of six or seven film data base ips that are and have been in all of my xbmc's I think it stand for International Movie Data Base. when setting up the video portion of xbmc I had a choice of which one I wanted to use and when a new movie is selected it automatically retrieves the movie info.

Oh right I see. So is IMDB anactual address or an IP I could use. If it is an address as such was it used in a 3rd party script or did you find this feature in the XMBC config menu ?
Cheers for the help its much apprecitated. _________________ XBOX V1.6

OK.. I know exactly what you're trying to do. My XBMC isnt the most up to date version but it should still work the same way.
Select the movie you want to get the info for and hit the white button:
Now hit "Movie Info" and it takes you to this screen:
For some reason the thumbnails dont seem to be working anymore. All you need to do is get a picture you want to use for one (I use the movie poster or DVD cover depending on what looks cooler), put it in a folder on your xbox and hit select thumbnail from the info screen.
Edit: Original owns all other Star Treks _________________

Missed a step.... select movies (or whereever your files are) and hit set content. Then select IMDb (International Movie Database also IMDb.com). That should do it. _________________

I was not able to load a thumbnail for one movie but I found the proper thumbnail poster on the net then place it in the movie file, then following your instructions Bongrip I was able to load the thumbnail from the Movie folder very easy thanks

Np man.. Nice to see some new members here. I'm not sure why, but IMDb icons dont seem to be showing up fro me anymore. Easy enough to send my own over when I FTP the movies though. _________________

It was even easier than waiting for the IMDB to place one there. and I will try to study up on the xmbc forum. but for now I will place my own thumbnails. I have three Xboxes hookup to the net and when a new build for xbmc come out I will load it on at least one of them to see if anything really new and exciting comes with it, I think it was a build in November or December is when I started having thumbnail issues but it was not important enough for me to figure out what the problem was and maybe roll back to a previous version? if I find anything out I will post it back here. Thanks for your Help.
