Ok, so I'm fairly computer savvy but I am pretty new to the modding scene. I got my box off of a friend. I want to upgrade my HDD, I have a 200GB sitting here, but more importantly, I don't know who did the install, but it doesn't seem to be right, it appears to be actually missing the MS Dash. If I boot it with the chip disabled, it still boots into unleashx, when I attempt to go to the option, MS Dash, it says the file can't be found. I want to do a clean install of AID, get more dashes, more apps, functionality and also, maybe consider installing a proper bios (I don't know, I just don't like how it says it's an unknown Bios) So, I this is what I have:
X3 CE with the LCD
UnleashX Dash
Not sure which bios cause it tells me <unknown>
It's got the Samsung SDG-605B DVD
Stock HDD
Toshiba Satellite Laptop
NEC DVD RW ND-7550A
DVD Decrypter 3.5.4
Phillips DVD+R/RW
And this is my problem:
I have burned the iso several times, tried using every setting of dummy file from none to 1 gb. Writing with it on 1x, not sure the actual slowest speed of the drive but this should make it default to the slowest write speed, have it on verify it checks good. When I put it in the xbox. The tray status on the dash says, Tray:Unknown the disc will not boot. WTH? Is it me? Is it the discs? Is it the burner, the dvd drive in the box? Is it dvd decrypter? Should I try using Nero or something? Please help.

That tut link you gave me had a link for an Xiso maker, which happens to be a vip area. Do I need to make an Xiso just burn the ISO of the AID? And to J_Smoke, I'm pretty sure I did it right, I followed the manual that came with AID, unrared it, opened AID ISO Updater, added a few add ons after loading the AID ISO that was archived and then hit save, named my ISO and it saved it. That is the ISO I have been trying to burn, per the directions in the manual. Question... SHOULD I be using the 1GB dummy file? I know it said it's recommended for DVD users, which I am, as I stated originally. Cause like I said, I had tried burning it with all the different dummy files and even the lack thereof. No dice. I'm going to try using nero while I want on a reply.

Use nero and burn it as an image file thats what i did, seems to work fine for me.
Heres a list of media that works well on diffrent types of disc drive.
Oh yeah, and by the way, just a little off topic, I followed the link in the forums to download my copy of AID 4.10 and noticed something, it mentions an Add on Roms set file, but I have not found one, and I know that the DHCP file was left out, but I also found the link for that one. But where is the Roms set?
Use nero and burn it as an image file thats what i did, seems to work fine for me.

Which dummy file should I be using? Does it TRULY matter?

My bad didn't know it makes itself into in ISO got my disk from a buddy since I didn't wanna take the time to DL a lil over a gig w/ dial up especially after I did dl it most of the way and then it lost all seeders. Try doin it without the dummy file this might be causin the problem. DVD decrypter should've worked are you sure you selected write ISO before you burned it? _________________
You mean "Save modified ISO" in the ISO Updater? If so, then yep, I know I did that for sure. By the way, in the event that this one that's in the oven burning with Nero at the moment actually works. What should I do about my bios? A) being that it's unknown and B) being that everything that I read about upgrading bios says I need to flash it with a bios that will recognize the HDD that is that big.

If your useing X-3 you want the 5053 bios on there.
As for a dummie file i dident use one on mine, but you can add all the updates then get the aid 4.11 update pak and add it to the iso.
That will be big enuff you wont need a dummie file.
So I don't have to do the 4.10 first and then the 4.11 separately? I can just put it on the same ISO as the 4.10? Does it have to go in in any order? Last thing I add to the ISO? I will go ahead and try that then, since I just finished the Nero burnt one with the 1gb dummy file on it and it still didn't work. It look as though it might this time though... it sat at the X xbox logo for a good several seconds before doing anything. Sigh... nothing though... oh well, back to the drawing board.

No I meant did you select Iso write from the modes menu at the top of DVD Decrypter. About the bios I've always just used the ones I like make sure its one thats for the X-3 I think some others may work but just stick with those for now, you just have to set the HDD up right when you install it meaning make sure F: and G: are enabled and you might need to use 32k clusters to keep data from corrupting but thats usually only in very large HDD's. You will need the bios that wes is talkin about. I just stuck mine in and used 32k clusters, keep in mind I use 4 500GB HDDs in my box that are all set up this way and its worked fine ever since. _________________

Yes add the 4.11 addons ofter the 4.10 addons are in.
You do know that aid takes a real long time to load, like a min. or more.
Yeah, I know it's supposed to take a while, but this is just loading straight to UnleashX Dash and saying the disc is an unknown disc. I'm getting really tired of how my box doesn't seem to know anything
