Okay, so I'm new at this, I've opened several different game cosoles but never and xbox, I know not to use magnetic tools, etc.

But I was just wondering, I have a fan here and want to swap with the current one, not only does this fan have LED's it is a "performance" fan that is suppose to help cool down and exaust heat better then the stck fan.

So, my question here is:

" What are the steps of opening and swapping the fan?"

first step, check to see how many amps your preformance fan will be using, the size, as you might have to make a custom mount, and you may need to make some room depending on the size as well.

But if the fan is the same size then it would be easier to under go. Perhaps a link to the fan specs would be more useful in helping you.

It's an Xbox fan, I purchased it from future shop a while back because I was going to give it to my friend for helping me with my computer but I never ended up giving it to him.

well if its a fan made for the xbox, then it should be as simple as swapping it out.

yes, But I was wondering as to the steps and precautions of taking the box apart because I know the fan is located under the HD case. So how do I go abouts removing that without killing my box.

Take your time youll be fine and keep in mind the stock fan has clips on both sides that hold it in place so dont go pulling on it. Very Happy

I am now curious as to putting a computer molex fan into the xbox.

is this possible? and has anyone tried it?

the fan I have had the mal and female connectors for the soul purpose of multiplying the amount of molex powered goodies you want to put in your computer etc.

can this be done?

Wes the old xbox doesn't need that many fans, only the 360.

yeah, I have to agree with wes here, you might as well go all out if your gonna go at all.

like you obviously don't need 10 fans on your xbox but 2 or even 3 would be fine, and also, I know those cathodes like to heat up a little.

I got the cathodes mounted in the face plate over the controle ports so even if thay did heat up it wont effect the core temps.
