You can see from my sig below (hopefully) that I've got a v1 XBOX now properly flashed with the latest X3 bios.
I have now installed the XBMC "One Click" dashboard option from the AID v4.1 Lite disc. I can see that all of the files installed correctly.
The problem that I have, is that from my interpretation of the documentation anyway, I should no just have to reboot the box and the new Media Center dashboard should load...
Only this isn't happening. I can't get the box to show anything but the X3 Bios screen at startup and it's driving me nuts!
Can anyone tell me if there's anything I need to do in the BIOS screen to get it to pick up and use the newly installed dashboard? I'm assuming it *should* just boot straight into the dashboard without having to go through the BIOS screen every time right?
Any help greatfully received! _________________ Cheers,

I also have the same problem with mine. I turn on my xbox and it automatically goes to the X3 bios screen. So maybe someone will know how to make it go to whichever dashboard you choose on startup. These guys are great so I am sure you will get a answer pretty soon.

Thanks for the reply rebelcharm.
So does that mean you know how to get it to start the dashboard (even if you have to go through the BIOS Screen each time)? I can't make it launch any dashboard, even from this screen.
If you can tell me how you got this bit working, at least it'll be a halfway house for now that I can use to test that the dashboard and apps are working. Right now I'm stuck in the BIOS screen with nowhere to go, and as wierd as I am I've tried all the menu options and it just isn't exciting enough in there for me _________________ Cheers,

No the thing is that in the x3 bios menu you need to set the drive where it boots from, and also the order of dash boot first is evox second xbmc etc. everything is explained in the tuto very easy it's a beautiful one boobs...
If you turn off the chip and reboot it will automatically go to your original xbox ms dash as long as you installed it back to the drive, if you have your stock then it's there already of course...
just in case here's the link again, thank Boobs:

Yep, it's sorted folks and thanks for the help.
Boobs tutorial was the key that did it. I don't profess to understand why I need to choose the EvoXdash.xbe when technically I haven't installed that dashboard but it did work.
The only variation from Boobs' instructions was that on my system after the following the instructions to the letter, it still didn't work. However, after digging around using the file manager, I found that after the one-click install, the evoxdash.xbe file was on the C: volume and not the E: volume. Making the change in the X3 Bios to boot from C: instead resolved the problem and now the XBMC dashboard is running every time...
Now all I have to do is get over the apparent disappointment in that XBMC doesn't appear to play WMA (Windows Media Audio) files and seems to prefer MP3. The prospect of re-encoding my entire 7000+ song music collection is not something I wanna face. Ah well, looks like I'll be playing music on my XBOX 360, and watching vids on the XBOX.
In any event, it's running now and I'm a happy bunny!!
Thanks for the help makaveli1527 for pointing me in the right direction, to Boobs for the tutorial, and all others who posted. _________________ Cheers,

No pro, glad to help,
And true you have to set it to the drive you installed your dash on.
And one click probably does use C: as i didn't use that i wouldn't know...
All the luck man

most bios are setup to boot evox dash so when you install a dash using AID4it the XBMC.xbe rename it to evoxdash.xbe so it compatble with the bios

Totally agree. Best thing about the internet in my opinion is people helping people from all over the world.
Anyway, spent lots more time with my new pet last night and found out loads more about what tricks it can do. So, I now have WMA catalogued and playing properly and more than that, Quicktime movie trailers in full screen - beats the cr*p out of watching them in a small letterbox on the PC!!
Anyway, it rules and I can now put my way more expensive broken DVD player back in its box for a long rest
Thanks again folks.. _________________ Cheers,
