I've been trying to mod an xbox to use XBMC but I've gotten stuck at the FTP portion. I've already installed EvoX as a dashboard and I can reach the IP address in the system settings, but when I trying to access the Xbox using FTP I get nothing, SmartFTP gives me the following error message:
"[20:31:16] A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond."
Here's the information from the Settings/Info page
Type: Static
IP: 192.168.0.2
Line Status: 100/Full Duplex
Ethernet MAC Address: 00:0D:3A:00:60:8D
Setup Network: yes
Use Static IP: yes
IP: 192.168.0.2
Subnetmask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.100
DNS: 0.0.0.0
DNS: 0.0.0.0
Setup Delay: 0
Skip setup if no link: No
FTP

Password: xbox
I am connecting the xbox and my pc through a linksys router running DD-WRT. I do not have a crossover cable in my possession but I can get one tomorrow. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, I got it working. I changed it over to DHCP and also turned off Zonealarm, worked like a charm.

this wouldnt have been the problem, Zonealarm would have blocked port 21 hence why no ftp connection. I would set it back to a static address

I FTP using FlashFXP with Zonealarm on and don't have any problems
The thing to remember with ZA is to read the alert messages it gives you
The OP must have clicked the DENY button when first using the FTP program

Actually nope, didn't get an message at first, which is why I think zonealarm wasn't the problem at first. When i turned Static IP off, I get a message and then allowed and it worked.

I noticed that you have the X3 chip
Just wondering if you knew that you can FTP from the chip without having to boot to the dash
Just go into X3 network setting and type in the static IP showing. The Unsername & password is X3. Doing this is you get immediate connection unlike trying to connect through the dash which can be hit and miss
Reason I say this i only found out last night I could do this as I FTP the MC360 skin to my Xbox and when I rebooted the dash the screen was blank.
Panicked at first but after reading the X3 manual found out you could so it. Fixed the dash again and all is fine
All I can say is thank god for the chip. if I'd had a softmod Xbox I would have been stuffed

Apologies
