Hi there, I am a n00b in this...hope someone can help me with my problem. I downloaded and burned the AID 4.01 and used it to install xbmc as my default dash. After installing AID told me that the xbox would turn of and so i thought to be working properly i need to start it again. When i started the xbox again I got the message that the disc could not be recognized as an xbox disc and all i saw was the original MS dash. Can someone tell me what went wrong? I can't boot anymore using the AID disc and I can't FTP to my xbox as well? Can someone please help? Or link me to a topic with help? Thanks!

it sounds like you dual booted your xbox.
so if i am correct try to start up your xbox with out the cd in it and that should allow it to start up xbmc.
just rember if your box is dual booted it will try to load the MS dash itf the tray is open, or if there is a disc inside of your box.

When I start up my box without a disk or with tray closed, it will load up the default MS Dash. So I am afraid that's not the issue i am having...
hello,
is the xbox soft modded ? .... if so, boot up with an original copy of the game used to perform the softmod, go into game save area and run the `linux` save, see where that takes you.
post back with a bit more info, someone in here will be able to help you _________________

I think I see the problem already... Did you install the dashboard as a SOFTMOD DASH or a MODDED DASH? Because you NEED to use the softmodded one, and after you install the softmodded one you want and all that jazz, you should be good... However, I think you installed a modchip dash SO you will probably need to re-do the softmod.
Sorry if I'm right, re-reading that it sounds discouraging.

I am afraid you're right...I used the modded dashso all I can do is do a softmod with one of the mentioned games (Splinter Cell, etc)
So for learning experience, can u tell me what happened with my mod?

It re-formatted your softmodded dash and replaced your C, basically just first try to reinstall a softmod because that way you can possibly recover your data, if it isn't there, you need to format the partitions too.
