Well guys I think i am about to finally ready to give up on my xbox mod quest. I've only softmodded my box and I' haven't been able to do anythig from there. No FTP no AID no nothing. Nothing has worked for me, although I can watch dvds with out buying that frickin thing. Thanks for all the help you guys have given me. Modding is great and I support it 110% but it just doesn't like me. Any last words of wisdom? _________________ RastaCalavera

lol... It looks like you and scarface are in the same general area, rasta. So if you want someone to install a modchip for you he may be your best bet. _________________

My softmodded boxes all came out fine too. It was when I attempted to chip my first console that I had problems. I was a didaster with a soldering iron. I've since mastered the art of solder.

Tell me about it. I managed to fry my modchip and lift *FOUR* traces on my mobo (d0 front and back and burned through the traces on either side of the d0 on the front). Figuring the mobo was already fried beyond use, I decided to hone my soldering skills following a tutorial that showed how to repair broken traces by means of, as the tutorial called it, a "soldered wire jump." I managed to solder those wires pretty well, but that Xbox still frags--the top d0 is just about impossible to repair via a wire jump.
As you can probably imagine, I stared at my second Xbox a good long while, trying to decide whether to risk firing up my (un)trusty soldering iron again or go the softmod route. In the end, I turned once more down the road of the chip, and everything went flawlessly the second time around.
