Ok so i softmodded the xbox using nknave and currently evox is my dash. I downloaded the newest bling bling build of xbmc. I am trying to figure out where do i place the xbmc files to get xbmc to be my primary and only dash. I have read lots of contradicting info everywhere. Some place say just place it into the e/dashboards/ folder but that does not exist. Then some people say replace the evoxdash.xbe file on /c/ but that does not exist. If anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Have a look at this.

Hopefully this will help you out.

With the shortcut xbe, simply rename it to whatever your current dash .xbe is, and overwrite the old dashboard .xbe with the shortcut xbe (renamed to be the same as the old one).

roo thanks so much you are the first person on three different sites that gave me a straightforward correct answer. Xbmc is up and working like a dream as my dash. Thanks again.

Hi roo, I've tried this and maybe i'm missing something.
I have evox booting as the dashboard. In the C drive there is only the file default.xbe which is the MS dash. I did find a file called evoxdash on the E drive, but when I replace that file with the shortcut xbe (renamed to evoxdash.xbe) the xbox locks up on booting and i can only get back into it using the splinter cell mod. I created the short cut xbe pointing to e:\apps\xmbc where all the xmbc files are.

Any idea what i'm doing wrong?

All depends on your setup. Soft mod or hard mod? Do you have a dashboard folder on your EConfused Depending on your setup, there are a few different ways to setup XBMC as your default dash.

For me I used AID v3.10 full
1. backup eeprom to pc
2. format c: and e:
3. install MS Dash from AID to c:
4. do one click install xbmc to e:
5. install newest dvd2xbox in e:Apps
6. take out AID dvd
7. reboot xbox
8. startup dvd2xbox
9. download on PC, XBMC v2.1 not the 1-1-2007 or later build still buggy
10. ftp through dvd2xbox XBMC to E:\XBMC

That's what I'm running right now and works perfect.
Just installed a 250GB Maxtor into my Xbox.
Also thinking of doing the Front side USB jack mod, but can't find a good tutorial yet.

[All depends on your setup. Soft mod or hard mod? Do you have a dashboard folder on your E Confused Depending on your setup, there are a few different ways to setup XBMC as your default dash.]

I have a soft mod and there is not a dashboard folder in E. The folder structure looks like:
C drive has a folders for Audio, Fonts, Xboxdashdata, Xodash. It also has a file called xboxdash.xbe.
E drive has folders for Apps (which is where XBMC is), Backup, and others but not one called dashboard. There is a file in E called evoxdash.xbe.

Hope this helps clarify.
