hi my name is andrew and i am new to this modding thing. I got an xbox last week which i told was chipped. it was running unleashx with no problems. but i decided to update it to the latest version. so i used auto-updater deluxe. in the instuctions it recomends formatting the c drive, which i did.
now when i start up the xbox i get error 13,14 and 16 ,at different times of course. i opened up the xbox today and there is no modchip installed, so i fear its been softmodded. the xbox is version 1.0
i have been reading about hotswapping the hard drive, or installing a modchip. i am leaning towards buying a modchip.
which modchips are recomended? ive been looking at the DuoX2 Modchip and the Super Aladdin Live modchip, are these any good? would they solve my problem? any suggestions would be helpfull

got same prob as u do and was adviced against the 2 modchips u've mentioned. was told to go for xceuter instead.
anday..i decide to go for softmod again and here's wat i do.
reason being that i did not have the MS logo after the xbox logo. but prob is..i got error 12 instead of error 11 as posted in that thread above. so i applied hotswap logic to the process. here's what i did.
1) boot up xbox with cables unplugged frm cdrom drive.
2) juz when the indicator on xbox starts flashing, pull off ide cable frm xbox. (drive is unlocked)
3) plug it into ur pc with power cord still attached from xbox to harddrive
Here you have 2 options. (both does not require eeprom.bin.)
a) run xboxhdm the usual way
b) or you can follow method posted here
i) boot up computer with pc harddrive on primary master and xbox hdd on secondary master and run xplorer360 and transfer all the required files. (takes a long time though)
hope this helps. cos i was searching for a good solution for 2 weeks b4 i got it solved.

and if your leaning towards a chip, and there benefits, like easy harddrive upgrade, and stuff like that. i highly recommend the xecuter series, the 3CE is to me the easyiest to install and flash with the new bios... but you could also do what was above and hotswap.

nope, if you buy a chip all you have to do is flash a "hacked" bios on it and then your good...

If you install a modchip, you can install any dash you prefer, upgrade your hard drive... etc... No you would not need to hotswap, it wouldn't be necessary.
I would recommend you download a copy of AID3.10. It will make setting up your system even easier. (after you install your modchip.)
hi. i have just purchased the xecuter 2.6 with solderless adapter. cant wait for it to come. hope it solves the problem

im running a seagate 250, but anything is possible with a chip, only becuase they dont have to be lockable... you pop it in, format it with aid i recommend 3.10.. and install new dash and all those emulators...
