Hey all, looks like I am getting a new PC in ten days, so I am going to sell mine. Figured I'd list it here for a few days before I list on Ebay.

HP Media Center PC 854N
P4 2.4Ghz
1GB RAM
120GB HD
Windows Media Center Edition 2005

It has two CD drives.
CD Rom Drive
Dual Layer CD/CDRW/DVD Burner (DVDRAM).It
Burns both DVD+-R disk

It has a built in TV Tuner/PVR card so you can watch, pause, and record live TV. It comes with a remote control and receiver unit.

It has built in media card readers and approximately 4 o4 5 USB ports. It also has firewire ports too.
HD size is 120GB

I have a 21" Flat Screen Trinitron Monitor that I would be willing to also part with.

It's a great running PC. I replaced the power supply about seven months ago and haven't had any other issues whatsoever. It also has dual monitor capabilities and I use that feature all the time. Its really nice when doing web work, or even just watching tv on one monitor and surfing on the other.

The only reason I am getting a new PC is because I want more RAM and a dual core processor. I also want a vid card that has HD capabilities.

Would entertain offers. If you have any questions just hit me up. If I forgot to list a feature I'll add later.

Oh yeah, it has regular coaxial inputs/outputs, svideo inputs/outputs and rca inputs/outputs.

It also has a Dolby Digital 5.1 sound card that I recently installed as I opted for a new card versus the integrated audio.

Well, I saw one up on Ebay starting bids at $275, but it has stock RAM, stock DVD burner, and also the original Media Center Edition OS.

It was the first OS that came out, it was nice but they definitely needed a lot of improvements with some of the features.

For instance, the fastest rewind and fast forward speed when watching recorded tv shows was 3X... So, if you needed to rewind a lot because you missed some part of a movie, you had to wait forever. With the newest 2005 Media Center Edition you can do so much more including rewinding at 300X. It's a lot more friendly with music, streaming video/audio, burning dvds etc...

The original didnt give you an interface for you to burn tv shows to DVD, you had to use a different software to do so. The 2005 Edition gives you the ability to burn non-copyrighted shows/movies right to DVD.

Now, when it came to making my own backups of the Sopranos, I had to use third party sofware because HBO copy-protects the shows and MS Software alone won't comply with you making those backups.

I guess in my mind because of the extra RAM, the new operating system, and the Dual Layer DVD Drive I am hoping to get around $500 for the PC.

Granted, you can get a new gateway for around $900.00 but I am unsure if that comes with a PVR/TV Tuner card, and it doesn't have two monitor setup either.

Most of the decent PCs that come with the tuner cards are going for over a grand. I think gateway has a standalone though for $900, but again not sure.

This PC was $1190.00 new, and that was with no monitor or printer. Totally standalone.

Whoever buys it will get the OS disks. I have two. I also have Windows Media Center Edition 2004. That OS came out about four months after I purchased the machine and I got it for free because there were a lot of unhappy people with the original. I only had to pay shipping. However, I had to pay for 2005 when it was released to the public. 2004 was only released to current owners. It was released by HP, not MS. The OS isn't cheap by any stretch of the means.

If you restore the PC, the OS resides on the D drive. However, I did make the recovery disks when I had the option. HP gives you a one time option of making recovery disks in the event your HD fails, or you want to upgrade to a larger one, you can still install the OS and original software that comes with the PC. It came with a lot of bundled software. The recover disk set is a set of 8 CDR disks so it has a lot of stuff. Both OS disks that I have (2004 and 2005) are each on one disk.

Let me know if you have someone interested. I also have one person interested, so whoever offers more gets the puppy. And I was wrong about the speed, it's a 2.54Ghz not a 2.4Ghz. Just wanted to clarify that.

Yeah it is...it has served me well. I wouldn't even be getting rid of it if it wasn't for my bro building his own PC and selling me his one he bought like six months or so ago. I just dont have use for two PCs as I also have a laptop. Since this one is a little bit older, it's just natural to get rid of this one. The only thing is on his, I have to buy a TV tuner card with a PVR as I cannot go without that...I am too spoiled now..lol.

Yeah, I actually do. I was about to put it on Ebay as I have been so frigging busy at work I haven't had time to come here for a visit!

Just to reinterate the goodies it has:

120GB HD
P4 2.53GHz Processor
1GB RAM
Five USB Ports, 2 1394 ieee ports
Built in PVR Card
NVidia Graphics card with TV out (SVideo In and Out also)
Remote Control
Windows Media Center 2005 (Originally came with the first release of Media Center Edition)
Two Dual Layer DVD Burners. One is a memorex, and one is a brand new Lightscribe DL Burner
Floppy drive of course.
6 in 1 Media Card Reader
Run Two monitors simultaneously.
Software galore. Everything you need to transfer your home videos directly to DVD...which is very nice to be able to do.

Now, for those who don't know what the difference is between the first release of XP Media Center Edition and XP Media Center Edition 2005, let me say this; It's like comparing a PS1 to an XBOX. Sure, when the PS1 came out it was nice, but damn....that Xbox just rocks!

There are way too many feature enhancements for me to go over, but you can simply go to microsoft.com and check out all the cool features of this OS.

If you ever have to restore the PC not only can you do it right from the D: Partition, I made a restore disk set (total 8 disks). Now, it will restore the PC back to factory condition (which includes all the cool software), but you will need to use the newer OS disks that I had to purchase in order to get back to the XP Media Center Edition 2005 (2 additional disks).

I have a lot of other software that I have installed as well. I also have the disks and/or serials that you would need in the event you have to restore.

Bios is current, firmware of drives are current. The lightscribe drive is very nice, but it's just nice in general to have two Dual Layer drives! I will also throw in 25 or so Lightscribe CDR disks. I can't remember how many disks are in a pack. So, you will get between 25 and 50 disks.

The only repairs I have ever had to make are the following. After seven months the fan on the power supply was making a rattle noice so I replaced the entire PS.

The original CDRom Drive was sticking when opening, so I popped a Memorex Dual Layer DVD Burner in.

I have also disabled the onboard sound and installed a new dolby digital 5.1 sound card. I didn't like the prefs for the onboard sound.

That's it. It's been and still is a kick ass PC. We have just purchased a brand new HP Laptop, and I bought my brothers Gateway. It's a little newer than this PC, but it doesn't have the PVR card which blows. I have to shell out a hundred bucks for a decent PVR card.

If interested just hit me up. I'll try to get back on asap to check PMs. I have been real busy at work with inventory so getting to the PC has not been an option. My Xbox hasn't been turned on in over a month!
