Since my DVD drive is dying (from a previous post), I have one option right? To get a new DVD drive. They sell em ebay which is ok (all in my price range), but they are all either just plain stock plug-n-plays or refurbished ones. Can I get a regular PC DVD/R/W drive from anywhere (like best buy or something)? If so, do games load faster using a faster PC DVD drive? How hard is it to mod a PC DVD drive for the XBOX?

Which PC DVD drive would you guys recommend based on compatibility with DVD/r/w/cd/r/w media and speed (I'm much more concerned with speed).

the discontinued samsung 616t will work when it's modded. Available on ebay and easily modded.

My samsung went bad.... i changed the laser now it works great and it only cots $15.00 inc shipping (it's like a new DVD rom now....)
