Hey my power supply is fried on a xbox I got for free. Can you use a regular computer power supply on it? If so, what is the pin configuration? Has anyone ever done this before?

I would recommend using an actual xbox powersupply to save you the trouble of figuring out how to fit a pc power supply into the box, and how to hook it up, not to mention the heating issues that you may have with a pc power supply. Just find out what version your xbox is and go to our classified section and post that you want a power supply for that version xbox. It's much better to do it that way. You should be able to get one for less than $30. _________________

Yeah I know some electrical stuff. I know loads about computers, just not too much about an xbox. But I figure they are about the same. Just a different plug right? Probably same voltages and everything?
And the point of not purchasing one is that I already have extra pc power supplies and this would be free. And I don't even have a dollar to my name right now because me and my wife got layed off and had to move back in with the rents and I just need something to do because I am bored out of my mind.

I've never did anything like this, I don't know if it's even possible, here's the pinouts though. Btw you can use your existing cable on the dead power supply.
Btw just for disclaimer reasons, I, this site, nor the site I am linking you to can be held responsible for any damages that you may nor may not recieve by modifying a pc power supply to work with an xbox.
hey, thanks a bunch, that's all I needed, I'll post pictures once I am finished if it works.. hehe
