Posted: Wed Apr 05, 2006 2:35 am Post subject: Softmod Gone Wrong
A while ago I softmodded my xbox, things were working fine until I wanted to go back to the MS dashboard. I tried to go back, but I couldn't for some reason even though I backed up the dash board, I was using evox. I was connected to the internet and I guess it messed up my xbox, so now no matter what when I turn on my xbox it says "Updating Xbox live" then says "the xbox live service cannot be reached". So I click "Ok" but it just goes back to "Updating XBL". Is there ANYTHING I can do about this or do I need to buy another xbox? Thanks a lot.

Ok, I found a short tutorial on hot swapping, but I don't get how you load the ms dash on my xbox with it. Is there another tutorial to learn how to do this?

When you use xboxhdm, you put the ms dash in the C linux folder. _________________ XBOX V1.4

Thanks for all of the info, but I'm not sure how to do all this or how the hotswap works exactly, so I was wondering if it's illegal to hot swap it because I was just going to see if my local pc/gaming center would do it for me. thanks a lot.

Well I'm getting some progress, I'm trying to make the burnable .iso to burn on a cd. I ran the .bat, like in the guide it says in windows to run the make-iso-win.bat. So I did, and it made make-iso-lin.sh but it says to open it in linux? Do I need linux to finish this, I don't have linux. Is there somewhere where I can download the burnable .iso, burn to a cd-r (is cd-r ok?) and use it for my xbox?

I don't know why it says that but burn the iso it made at slowest speed. This is to run in pc. _________________ XBOX V1.4

when you click make iso win it shoud load commond prompt and start to make an image burn it the right way and then you got your self a linux .
