Hi all!
Perhaps you can help me solve a most frustrating issue? I just softmodded my Xbox and am trying to FTP with my PC. The Xbox keeps telling me that there is "No Link!" I'm trying to set up a direct link with a crossover cable. Yes, it is a crossover cable and it works fine. As far as I know the Xbox NIC is working (Got it from a trusted friend who played online all the time) Here's what I'm doing:
Evox Dashboard
Setup Network: Yes
Use Static IP: Yes
IP: 192.168.0.3
Subnetmask 255.255.255.0
DefaultGateway: [Blank]
DNS: 0.0.0.0
DNS: 0.0.0.0
Setup Delay: 0
Skip Setup if No Link: No
---FTP---
Enable: Yes
Password: xbox
On my PC:
WinXP SP2
Use the following IP address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: [Blank]
Preferred DNS server: [Blank]
Alternate DNS server: [Blank]
Thank you so much for your time. You don't know whow grateful I would be if someone can help me with this! Thanks!

@ gus738 Well, I followed your article but unfortunately it didn't work.
I used the Softmod Installer Deluxe (Splinter Cell exploit).
No, I am not dual booting.
Any suggestions?? Thanks!

EvoX is abit more touchy to get an ftp to work, If you have AID 3.0 Install XBMC as an application, then go into XMBC and while thats running try and ftp into your xbox that way. _________________

Tried using XBMC by setting the IP address, enabling FTP share in file view (or whatever it is), and rebooting XBMC. It still told me that there wasn't a connection.
I've tried using different dashboards (Avalaunch, Unleash X) and it still doesn't work.
I believe that I used SID 3.
Would it make a difference if I used AID 3 to install a dash with DHCP? I haven't done this because I've been afraid of messing something up (it took me FOREVER to install a larger HD since I couldn't FTP).
Does this info give anyone any ideas?? thanks for all of the suggestions so far, and I eagerly await more! Thanks.

Nnooo! It didn't work Under the Unleash X Network Settings it says Current IP: [Blank]
Link Status: No Link
After about 1-2 seconds it shows this:
Current IP: No Link
Link Status: [Blank]
Any thoughts? I'm still desperate for this to work.... Thanks!

what os to you have on your pc, I have xp pro sp2.
Make sure your firewall is off.
For my ice os is use static 192.168.1.5 or any number for the last octlet that does not conflict with the xbox'x 192.168.1.32
for evox i use this
I first set my ip static on my pc for 192.168.0.5 .
subnet 250.250.250.0
gateway as 192.168.0.3 as is default in evox.
I will set the gateway as 192.168.0.3 and for good measure the
Dns server as 192.168.0.3
open the dos command prompt window and
type ipconfig to verify your pc settings.
Then type ping 192.168.0.3 it should give you the results
4 packets sent and 4 recieved.
That verifies the link between the pc and xbox cable are all talking.
let me know
