Allright, Igot the box chipped and the Evox BIOS installed, and from what I cn tell I hve to use an utoinstaller of some kind to get the dashboard with FTP support onto the Xbox. All of the installers I've found seem to run between 200 and 700 megs. Problem is, the only internet line I hve access to is ancient dial up. Not just any dial up, the kind that is so slow that the computer will say it's connected and the internet explorer programs will sometimes say that it is not there. The slayers installer say its about 215 megabytes, that equals an 8 day download here, providing I can keep it going 24/7 for that long. All of that long windedness leads up to my question...
Are there any scaled-down installers which consist of just the essential files (dashboard, and .ini s tht the thing needs) to allow for FTP support. If not, is there an alternate way of putting the dashboards onto a chipped box without the auto-installers?

all you really need is the 'evox' dashboard files. I think its sub 13 megs and if you just download that, and burn those files to a dvd exactly how they appear in the file (.xbe in the main level) it will boot.
Dont forget to change the evoxdash.xbe to default.xbe so that it will start upon boot. and also, dont forget to change the .ini settings to network settings that work with your network. _________________ XCM Halo 2 blue case

If you have your chip installed and the Evox bios installed you're almost there!The short answer is yes you can find just the dashboard files.The autoinstaller discs are a convenient way to have a lot of xbox related files together.These files are available seperatately here at xbhq in the v.i.p. download section and elsewhere on the web.First thing is to get the Evox dashboard files.Check out this.

Okay, I managed to get hold of a zip file containing the evox.ini, default.xbe, EvolutionX build 3935 info .nfo, an two readme files. This zip file is just a little under 800 kb. Could that be it, or is it definitely closer to 13 mb?
guess if that one's under 1 meg it could be. ill try that one.

yeah thats it.. i wasnt sure for sizes, different times i guess.. this is how i had to mod my box back before AID was made..
yeah, just pop those files onto the dvd (or if you have a phillips/samsung a certain few cds may work, memorex works with both in my experiences) and it will run evox.. just ftp to the xbox and move the files over to the c drive.. _________________ XCM Halo 2 blue case

I'm pretty sure I followed the tutorial correctly, but when I put the disc in the box it says its not a dvd or audio cd, or xbox game. I wouldn't think it would be a media compatability issue, since this disc is out of the same pck as the one I flashed my Evox bios with. I used xiso to make the iso. I tried just the iso, the iso and then a large file (350+ meg), and then tried creating the iso with the file inside of it. Still doesn't recognize the disc. Tried starting it up with the disc in, and tried inserting the disc after boot. I did that with all 3 of the discs I burned. All i had besides the pading file was the "default.xbe" and the evox.ini". Any Ideas? I lso tried using windows to copy just the two files to the disc. Still nothing. You don't think it could be not reading that kind of disc because of the Evox Bios do you? The discs are Imation 700Mb CD-R/W 1x-4x. Like I said, used 'em to flash the ios...

arnt there other files in the evox 3595.zip folder?
you need to make sure that all the files are there.. everything else looks to be in order.. just make sure to use cbxbox tool to make the folder an iso then use nero to burn it. (or other programs that do the same thing will also work). _________________ XCM Halo 2 blue case

i HAD made a post, but apparently it was deleted.
What you have to do is make an XIso using C-Xbox (atleast that's what i use [can be obtained in the downloads section i believe]) and then burn it. sorry for making you waste a CD-R =[ God knows i've wasted atleast 20 of them in trying to get xbox files running from a CD (AID, Etc.)
only deleted the post because first of all the files are made with the xdk (which makes it comparable to hosting games all most, but not in such a serious way as dash files are freeware) and because the site relies on VIP subscriptions rather than 1000 dollars ads like other sites do.

Nope. The only files were the two readme files nd the .xbe and .ini, and one .nfo info file. I used a brand new CD-RW when I got back from work tonight. I'll try one of the other .Iso makers. Let you know how it turns out.

Like to say thanks for all of the help. After 13 or 14 CD-RWs and a lot of bashing my hed against the desk, I now have a chipped and modded XBOX. Now I just gott upgrade the tiny little stock hard drive which sucks a lot now...

On Second thought, I did mnage to find an old 40 gig...not much, but better. Problem is, I can't get the box to show any space on the f: partition. I have the F partition turned on in the settings menu. Anything Else I need to do to make it usable. I would like to put my gmes nd movies on the f partition. I ran a search, but couldn't seem to get anything useful off of such things as "partition" and "HD Partition". Preciate it.

Well, as it turns out what solved my problem was a guy I work with at Wal Mart. He had a copy of the Slayers thing. So, whatever that formats with. that's what I used. I had it put Evox on the C: drive and everything else on the F:
