ok i have searched everywhere for the (on this forum,xbox-scene,google,and tutorials) and found a few things relivant but nothing to help me.
so this is my situation i have a brand new xbox that i used the mechassault save exploit and installed the SID 4.5 and it worked perfectly. then i used xboxhdm 1.9 to upgrade the hard drive to a western digital 250gb hdd and that worked perfectly to. i created a new live account and got it working i used it on forza and it works. i have a back up of halo 2 on my hard drive and it works. my problem is when i play a disc of halo 2 so i can play on live (with mod off) the game freezes. it usually freezes right after the bungie logo and says a message like "disc is dirty or damaged press A" and i do and i get error 21 i know what 21 means so i restored my C and E with my backups from my original backup and i put a different halo 2 disc in but that doesnt work. sometimes it will load up pass the logo and i sign into xbox live but when i go to connect to a game it freezes. it will also do this just before i play a one player game. the one thing i noticed is just before it freezes the HDD makes a cklicking sound. it doesnt do this on any other game but halo 2.help me if some body can i just want my disc of halo 2 to run

well when you upgraded your hdd did you just take your old one out or just add onto it? If your hdd is an add-on and you have halo 2 on it, then just lock your large hdd. I think what is doing it is because you already have halo 2 on your hard drive and Bungie is detecting it. Im not sure if this is correct but my friend had the same problem but w/o a bigger hdd. He just removed halo 2 then it worked. Maybe try that. Someone correct me if I am wrong or just way off the court. _________________ Moddingbandit

well i replaced the old hdd completetly but i had moved all my games from my chiped xbox over to the unchipped xbox and it had halo 2 on it but i already removed it because i thought that it might be conflicting but nothing works and it still freezes even when i unplugg the ethernet cable

It may be that your drive is faulty. My friends xbox whom I modded, his drive is now going out and won't load games anymore. It might be the same for your's. The one you are trying to get online with, does it a retail hard drive in it? _________________ Moddingbandit

the xbox im trying to get online with is the softmoded one with the larger hdd upgrade. I thought about the hdd going out but the only thing that makes me think it isnt is it will play all my other disc games just fine but not halo 2

Dude.. Are you serious??
The reason its giving you a dirty disc error is because you have the game on your HDDm when you put the disc in at anytime it could try and read info from the one on your HDD. also, if you ever try and sign onto live with a softmod, you will be reading from your harddrive. You cant sign onto xbox live because of the harddrive issue.
Get a chip and 2 HDDS, its a lot easier. _________________ Smoke weed everyday

you can sign into live with SID4.5 dual boot...

i dont know what your trying to do but if its xbox live then get
sid 4 or 4.5 and put dual boot = retail for xbl u use power ejec tray open and its all to retail state ......
regarding the halo 2 disc IS IT SCRATCH??? i bet 99% sure its damage ...
if it isnt then try borrowing anoter xbox dvd drive and put it on your xbox and check if its the same thing or works.
thrs only 2 possible things >. 1 disc damage . 2>. your xbox dvd drive doesnt work good anymore......

Possibilities.
-damaged disc
-damaged files on disc
-damaged files on xbox hdd
-faulty hdd
-simply you need to delete your cache
---E:\CACHE\ (all inside this folder)
---X:\
---Y:\
---Z:\
for X, Y, and Z you must delete all that's in it to avoid problems.
NOTE: If you transfered your halo 2 xbox live or the map packs from your old hdd, you won't be able to use them, as the will not allow you, since new hdd means new hash checks according to eeprom and other important hardware checks.
Example: I had halo 2 mmp installed on the stock drive, after I ftp'd to new hdd in another xbox, and it wouldn't allow me to use the 1.1 update nor the downloaded maps. Now there's a Mimesis related patch to disable some of these checks, but for me all I got was the "Downloaded Content is Corrupt, please download again". _________________ Xbox v1.1

ok i just put the new hdd back in and deleted the cache and what ever was in the X Y Z folders and it still doesnt work. i would think it was a bad hdd from the way it makes a clicking sound but it doesnt do that on any other game
