Post subject: SID 3 & XBMC as Dash Question
Reply with quote

Okay, currently I'm using the default UnleashX dash that comes with SID3. Now, given all the issues with XBMC(FTP, etc), I'm curious, what's the best way to install XBMC as a DASH, with SID3?

I'd like to keep the SID3 OPEN-TRAY Dash as well, in case something happens with the XBMC install. Is this possible?

Thanks a lot for any help!

I dont know if this helps, but I used the AID 3.0 disc to install XBMC as a "hacked dashboard" to the E drive. Booted right up upon restart. Works great.

I had troubles using it with the open tray feature, I ended up uninstalling the softmod (v2.0) completely and installing v4.5 from the aid disk as a single boot instead of dual, then installing xbmc as a hacked dash.

I'm a complete newb though...

well actually you are pretty right mmxbox. Yes he does need to get AID 3.0 or 2.11 for just simpler stuff. And yes he should install XBMC but he should install it as an application. That way he can always boot it up when he wants. Also, using AID, install xselect which will let you choose what dashes and apps. you want be chosen as quick pick dashes and apps. Once you install both, you can reboot your xbox with disc out, and you'll see a pop-up. Read it and it will show you what to doin xselect. Also, with xselect you can then choose to boot XBMC as your default dash and evox as an app. so you can still use it, but when you choose to use it.

Yes, I would insist upon this too. nknave posted a tut. on here somewhere, just search for it in the active topics and you'll find it.
