I had a topic a few days ago that asked if a ethernet cable would work as a Xbox system link? Well I was told yes and Have had no luck. My other question is when I have a DVD burner how do I back up my games exactly? What I mean is do I just burn the game as if I was burning a DVD? And then since the Xbox is modded it will just play? Or do I need some program on my PC to burn it the right way? One last question...what are the best DVD burn discs to use? Thanks guys.

I would imagine you need something like a crossover cable if you didn't purchase a special System Link set up. I once purchased an item that had a little bridge that two ethernet cables connected to. The bridge probably acted somewhat like a router and allowed for proper connection. The problem with an ethernet cable is the way the ends are wired.

Here is an official Xbox system link cable:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005R6YW/104-0968340-6785500

A crossover cable would probably work just as well because it's ends are wired specifically for that type of purpose.

To back up a game on your PC, you will burn it on your xbox, FTP it to your PC and then create an .ISO to burn on a DVD burner. Then yes, you can play it ONLY in a modded xbox.

You will not need anything to play the disk other than your modded xbox, no programs need installed on your xbox. You do need some .ISO tools on your PC for the prep and burning though..that's all. We have all that you need in our download sections.

later man

Pop the Game into your Xbox DVD Drive. Back it up to the xbox HD. FTP over to your PC HD. Create a game .ISO, burn to DVD in your PC DVD Burner...that's it!!

You said something about what media type you can read, well it depends on which drive you have. This was thanks to realmccloy, it will help you figure out which one you have. Hopefully it's a samsung.
