im going 2 get a 120 or 200 gb hard drive later
nd i read that you need a passoword on config magic to lock the hard drive
how do i get this password???
and how many games can a 120 gb hard drive hold and how many can a 200 gb hard drive hold??

if you read this they were out of the 1s with the samsung drive so i got one with a philips and its great cause it reads my cheap CD-R (10 for a .99 at the dollar store neer me ) (and the also were like dont get the action replay it will burn out your mother board imnot selling it 2 u so i was like ill take the xbox and the AR nd the splinter cell game so then lady was like ok but it will burn out your mother board i was like what ever) (nd i think they thought i was crazy when i asked them 2 turn on the xbox so i can see the drive)

just get ms dash retail files.. PIRRUP has them ... look under his signiture.. once u have C then leave E epmty and put ur eeprom on eeprom make the disc and run it ... ur C is ur ms dash retail files
once ur new hd will be runnin then u can ftp the old hd files to new 1 ... and this is the fastest easiest way .. trust me ever1 is alrdy askin me for upgrdaes on xboxhd all the time... well not ever1 lol but u get the ideal... _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

actually, dont even bother with the ms back up dash... as long as the softmod you are running now works just how you want it to, backup everything (C, E, and eeprom) and transfer it to your computer. put the files in each folder in the appropriate place in xbhdm.
(to get eeprom, run config magic and click 'backup eeprom') just besure to name it eeprom.bin or else it wont detect it in xbhdm.
go thru the steps, besure to lock it...

kk sounds good gus but if i have a few dash boards on it will they still b there if i only copy over the retail files or will i have 2 re instal the soft mod

yes once your new hd is workin on the xbox you will have to re softmod... for best results of course....
xboxhdm ms dash eeprom u need those 3 thing ms dash and xboxdhm is here on hq ...
once ur new hd is ready then u can ftp the files back... well udata tdata gamesaves music etc etc.. but the softmod its best to re do it .. its not complicated dude.... _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

I already upgraded hdd and I copied my E,C, eeprom and it worked(had to reinstall softmod). But you're saying instead of copying C, I can just put Pirrup's MS dash files in C and the eeprom in it's folder? _________________ XBOX V1.4

Today I had a little problem with xboxhdm1.9.. I made the iso, however there is no Audio nor Fonts folders in C when running without shadowc.img activated, so when I boot the CD it refused to work saying "No packages found" bye bye...
So I had an idea to create an empty folders, however I had an iso with a vanilla retail xbox hd, so I used this one to make the bigger this, lock and then I ftp-ied everything from the old drive and wiht minor problem my friend now had a bigger hd.

u probly didnt have shadow c .. fake ms dash files!! .. so that is why it ownt work as they arent retail....

can't you just get the REAL C:\ files with the install.xbe in some UDATA folder. And then transfer those files to the C folder in XBHDM?
Should it work then?

the real retail files are ms dash from pirrup sig then they go on xboxhdm1.9 / C folder then you put the eeprom.bin on xboxhdm1.9/EEPROM folder and the same with E folder
but E is un nececary
so if you just want to boot up a new xbox with no stuff in it then just transfer C and EEPROM and your good.
sid 4 and 4.5 have a diffrent system so they have unique features so a noob cannot break the mod ... thats why special steps are needed.
DaJackal : yea insted of copyin your C you can put pirrups ms dash and it will load ms dash on start up . BUT why would you do it since you already upgrade the hd ?
