Is there any way to find out what kind of modchip you have in your xbox. The guy who installed it won't tell me. I removed the cover of my xbox, hd, dvd, but i could not see the modchip. It must be under the motherboard?? right Also where do you look for the xbox revision. I didn't see that either. I ran bioscheck v4.0b i have this info.
chip type tsop reflashed winbond w49f020
bios evox m7 eject fix
bios md5 hash 039dd ect
can anyone tell me if i will be able to reflashed it or i dont't need to do it to install a bigger hd. My first try at this stuff. Lots to learn. Tks

Nope, not under the mobo, sounds like no chip but a softmod.
He won't tell you the chip name, because he can't, it's not there.
I've only ever seen winbond on a softmod.
Has anyone else seen any different? _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Yup...sounds like a softmod since you cant see it on top...it would be on the left side of your box most likely if it was there...I think i have seen that number when i looked at my settings in xbmc on my chip but I could be wrong...either way there are different ways to change your softmod and upgrade that but it seems like if you want a chip you are going to have to put it in yourself...good luck...later. _________________ Xbox V1.6

Tks.
Why peoples install a modchip if they can do the samething with softmod. why did he open my xbox if he didn't install a modchip. If i want to copy a game to my pc from the xbox what program do i need to use. When i find the program in what directory do i install it. Do i have to load the game or i just put in the dvd and the program will be able to read it. Tks

It looks like you have a reflashed TSOP! (XBox Bios)

You can't see it on the Mobo because, he just reflashed what you already had. (It does take a fair bit of work though.)
A TSOP flash works just fine and they ARE reflashable through EvoX, Slayer's Install disk and other flashing utilities. (ONLY if the bridge points are still connected)
BUT BE VERY CAREFUL ... If you flash a wrong bios and you can't boot, you will need a modchip to fix it!
For HDD's larger than 137GB's you will need to configure a G: drive. You should be just fine with that bios though. _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!
