The contents of the ms-c folder goes into the c: partition. Once it's in there make a backup of it. Then you can run the patch. Don't turn the system off or reboot during this process, it will mess you up.
Good Luck.

so put that in there, and then have the msdash.xbe in the e/backups/ms folder, and then run the patch?
and this will allow me to run evox as my main dashboard, but be able to select launch msdashboard from the evox main menu?
or am i teh dumb?
and thanks again.

"msdash.xbe" is the fixed "xboxdash.xbe" that is made to use "f0nts" folder instead of "fonts" folder.

you won't have this file untill you install the softmod. why?

softmod will use the following files.

xboxdash.xbe (patched to used hacked fonts)
fonts (folder that contains hacked fonts)
SID (folder that will containg bios, bios loader, config files, that are loaded throught the font hack)
evoxdash.xbe (by default, is the homebrew dash that will load by the bios forced on hardware)

now, since your using "xboxdash.xbe" to load your hacked bios using fonts. you can't access your orignal dashboard, therefor a new ".xbe" file is made from "xboxdash.xbe" named "msdash.xbe", but uses the fonts in the f0nts folder, this way it will not get mixed with softmod files.

hopes this explains most, yet more for you to discover.

okay, i think im starting to understand or be more confused, one or the other. so, how do i go about getting to use the msdashboard through the evox main menu. i already have evox installed and want to risk playing on xbl until im booted. that and i prefer using the ar to transfer game saves with it as opposed to ftp-ing them.
as of now, the lanch msdash option is not selectable from the main menu. thanks in advance.

I just checked my system. There is a zipped file called "cdrive.zip" consisting of the three files that you see in the ms-c directory. The zip file is in the backup directory of the xbox.... i.e. E:\Backup\cdrive.zip
Try to FTP that over and run the patch.

See what happens if you zip those files your-self and ftp it into the directory.
Be sure to name it cdrive.zip.

bah, ive given up onthis endeavor. when i run the patch doing that or anything else, it just sets up msdash as the default dash again. however, i got xbl to work without it, and have figured out how to transfer saves and stuff without the action replay and without the msdash. so thanks for the help, but ive just given up and decided i dont need the ms dashboard anyways.
