i had been using my softmodded xbox for a while and i was playing burned dvds fine, then i downloaded and burned the AID v2 disc in there and installed some of the new dashboards.. i turned off my xbox and waited for one of my other games to burn.. when i put my burned game back in and powered up my xbox, it did nothing. even if i took the disc out and left the tray out or in. all i got was the very first screen when turning on ur xbox, not the ms dash or the modded dashboards.. the led stays a solid green so i tried to ftp my xbox just like i had done before with the same ip n what not.. but it just failed to connect.. wondering if i have to rent splinter cell and reinstall the mod again or if there is a way to do it safely without going anywhere

sorry bout the double post, but something new happened.. well i booted up my xbox a couple days after this problem happened. now as soon as it starts up it gives me a black screen with green text saying your xbox requires service contact customer support in about 5 different languages as well as the number 13 in the top left corner of my screen...and the led flashes green to red.. so yea.. im officially screwd now?
ok, sorry for bieng stupid, but as i looked around i found that if i could ftp to my xbox then i could reinstall my ms dash, problem is.. i cant connect to my xbox.. im using a cable from my xbox into my router.. ive done it fine before but it just isint connecting now. all i get is the connection failed [connection timed out] error..and of course.. just to help me out.. my xbox wont boot up any games.. retail or burned.

Sounds like your gonna need to get splinter cell. Instead of renting, why not buy it used from ebgames,gamestop,ect for like $6.99. I did, and it helps keep your xbox safe just incase anything happens.

if you CANT get any games booting on your softmodded xbox especially original games then you wil lhave to try and recover it using one of pirrups tutorials or install a modchip.. I hope you have a eeprom backup etc of your xbox otherwise i would suggest installing a modchip.
If you install a modchip and boot AID you can reinstall all the missing files.. Then you could also get a backup of your eeprom for the future..
If you dont have a eeprom backup and want to recover without a modchip try this:
i was also wondering what modchip/modchip installation service you would request using. i kno there are tons of places out there and tons of different chips.. im kinda new to the whole modding thing and im not sure of a safe place to ship my xbox to as well as purchase the modchip

The best thing to do is make a post on the HQ forums.
Asking if anyone is in your AREA..
Leave your City and STATE in the topic subject..
Hopefully you may have someone very close to you who can mod your xbox for you.
Personally, if TheModGod (http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/banners.php?op=click&bid=15) wasnt sick i would tell you to contact him.. He is one of our OWN INSTALLERS on HQ and is a admin as well..
Unfortuntely TheModGod is ill at the moment..
Anyway, im sure you will find someone local or close atleast to install you mod..
You can purchase your modchip from any of our advertisers and i can guarantee you it will be fine.
allright, thanks for the help so far, got one more question about it though. today when i was trying to do it.. i disconnected all my hard drives and my cd drives.. xcept for the one thats reading my xboxhdm disc.. then one time.. i didnt hit the pause/break in time.. and it just booted up the xboxhdm disc for but i didnt do anything besides shutting down cuz i wasnt sure if thats what i wanted.. and i was bieng cautious..but when i did it right (swapped the comp IDE cable to the xbox and hit the space bar) it gave me an error that was something like.. "invalid image checksum..sorry" was just wondering if thats something wrong with my comp? maybe a bad burned disc(what prog should i use?) or if i am supposed to hook up the xbox hard drive to it after it gets to the main menu of the xboxhdm program. but i have a feeling that just hooking the xbox hard drive up to it and booting up my pc defeats the purpose of hotswapping.. because i dont have the eeprom backup and i just need to rebuild my xbox hard drive.
