Well looks, like I dodged a bullet. I wish I could say that for some of the others. We had some damage from falling trees and power outages but that's about it in North Alabama. Godspeed those that the hurricane has affected. _________________ V1.6

Sharky may have been hit, he is online right now stirring the waters.
Besides having no power ,the next worse thing is having to do clean up. (Assuming it isn't a house that blew down, hasn't happened to me yet..) _________________ XBOX v1.6

I'm in Northwest AL, slightly south of decatur, and west of cullman for those that know this area. We have fallen trees and power outages, nothing major that I've heard of. Some wind caused structural damage, some tree damage too where they may have fallen on something valuable, as far as I know nothing has hurt any of my family or belongings, other than the power being out, but I can easily replace the icecream in the freezer . _________________

Jesus what a ride last night was. Mainly starting at 1AM our time
National Weather Service knocked off the air.
Reports are that the rain should be gone at this point although we are still completely cloud covered.
37,000 without power and in no specific area.
MLGW reports power may be out in some area for days.
No additional crews to call in since they are all dealing with their areas like MS and even some in AR.
Trees down
No flooding but pool about to breach and without power I can't pump it down.
Woke up a lot last night.
Howling winds around 1AM told me Katrina had visited
Couldn't see outside, too dark, rain sideways, winds at least 45 mph sustained with higher gusts.
Flash flood warnings issued around the same time, woke me up in the heart of the storm.
Property intact but some roads impassible due to large downed trees.
It was as close to hell on earth as I want to get.
Glad to hear all went well with you last night TufEnuf. May others be as fortunate.
As for us, we have a lot to do to get the city back together. I'd say we got our asses kicked last night. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Well congratulations Shark,
Your Cherry is popped baby. I bet you are a bleeder too
I can't believe you have power now to send out, I wasn't fortunate enough to get power back for 2 days @ my mom's and 5 days @ my apartment.
Floridians have thick skin when it comes to hurricanes. _________________ XBOX v1.6

Good gawd. The stories coming out of Louisiana are right out of a Steven King novel of a city without all hope. So very sad to watch the best and worst coming out of a city that no one can return to for months. It has to be frightening there at night. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

WTF! It's been days and rescues are only just starting. Chemical explosions reported this morning and fires no one can fight since there's no functioning equipment. Where is everone? Why are the hurricanes in Florida handled so differently from this one. We get aid for forgien countries in a day or two, but can't do it in almost a week in our own backyard? For shame..... _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Elaborate more my cold blooded friend...
Chemical fires? The meth labs down the street catch fire? Or was it a personal stash...
But honestly, we are hurricane central, they know how fast to move here, especially since FLORIDA HAS RICH/FAMOUS PEOPLE IN IT!!!! ESPECIALLY PALM BEACH, next to where i am from.
So we ride that wave and get things fixed for us somewhat quickly.
Also, everyone has an Idea of what to do with a hurricane, not wait till 20 mins before landfall and get stuck on the interstate.
The super dome I don't think was the best choice, do the the amount of debris that could have fallen on the thousands of people there. Not a smart move, but in a time of need. I was cringing when I heard people were weathering it out in there.
I have seen some of the nasty flood pics, I don't watch much broadcast Television. I have checked the internet of some of the pics. _________________ XBOX v1.6

News from New Orleans states a large chemical explosion this morning but no further info. People are dying from lack of drinkable water right in front of the cameras down there. New Orleans is a scratch. I just can't handle watching all those kids suffer in the heat with no food or even a clean bathroom. They've been running around in that polluted flood water for days without even being able to shower or wash clothing. This whole thing sickens me.

There was a news reporter in front of the convention center and a cop pulled up. When he was asked if there was help coming the cop said yes. Ten the repoter asked him who was coming and the cop just took off. He never answered the question. It pissed me off to see my tax dollars going to rebuild Iraq after the war, but people in my own country dying due to lack of fresh water and food. This is digusting. _________________
