Ok Gurus & Gods,
I have a 1.6b that I've just begun modding (my first attempt at mods). I completed the SID process on it finally after a few attempts. In the beginning I was probably reading the wrong instructions, because I missed the "Make MS Backup" step, so needless to say, reversion is out of the question at this time. I'm at the point where I have EvolutionX 3939 as my dash for tray closed and the SID dash for my open on. I can FTP to the box no problem and Transfer files both ways. I've got 2 AID iso's, the original one that fits on a CD, and the lager, DVD sized one, but no DVD burner. But the Thompson dvd drive won't read any of the CD's/CD-RW's that Ive burned.
Now for the questions:
Can I get the AID intall onto the box via FTP? Is it worth the effort?
How can I get DVD2XBox installed?
I've tried to unlock the HDD using the Unlock tool to do it, but even though it says "done" it's not unlocking.
Do I need to change the bios? if so, how, and which one is best for the 1.6?
Sorry for being so long winded, and I'm sure I've read some of the answers in other posts, but after reading what feels like every post in every applicable forum and the tutorials, I'm on information overload, and can't find them now. Also not sure if I posted to the correct forum, sorry!

Hi and welcome to HQ..
For one since you have a softmod dont go unlocking the retail hdd.. You cannot do that otherwise if you UNLOCK and reboot your xbox will have errors and you will need to rebuild the original retail hdd using a pc and some tools..
So, with that said.. Seems to me the only issue you have is that you cant boot AIdeluxe.. personally i would hope you could afford or know someone that has a dvd-r or dvd+r drive that could burn the .iso for you.
OR
You will have to go and buy several different brands of cdrw and find the one that your xbox likes to read.. Make sure you burn at the slowest speed too and also try DVDDecrypter or NERO.. Swap between..
Im sure you will get AIdeluxe to boot and then you can install everything you need and backup your eeprom and other info too..
You dont really need a backup of your M$ Dashboard.. Its on AID and you could really copy that over the top of your softmod and it will remove it back to normal.

also make sure you know what an iso is and how your suppost to burn that.
no offence personally, but most of the ppl i helped with burning disc, or aid iso files, they would try and try to burn the file as data.......and that's very dumb
