I've installed a softmod and have Evox up and running.... I'm a pretty good computer person, but before I FRAG my xbox and get a paperweight... I'd like to know, if I boot up with a new hard drive in my xbox; out of the box: will it give me and error? Or will the Dash come up and let me unlock it?
OR... if someone can post a decent link that explains this, please do. I've done some searching/googling, but I'm going to be extra certain on this one. Thanks guys.

hi motoexr140 and welcome to HQ mate..
You certainly have come to the right place for help too..
ok.. Since your xbox is softmodded you should never UNLOCK your XBOX HDD.. If you do unlock your xbox hdd you will get a ERROR just like you mentioned and then you will have to go to alot of troble to get your hdd working again.
however, If you had a modchip installed you could just install a brand new hdd into your xbox and use the AID2 to boot.. It would find the new hdd and format it ready for use in the xbox..
To upgrade your hdd in a softmodded xbox you will need to do many steps.. Here are some links to tutorials written by our admins/members here and i know they work..
anyway, hope that is some help to ya..
Dont forget also to come into the VIP CHATROOM for help from the others if you need a hand.. There is normally a admin or another vip member hanging about in the chatroom to help.
Wow that fast, and exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!
One more thing... could I just pop in my old/current hdd in my computer, alonf with the new one, do a disk image (all the partitions/files), and then make the partitions bigger using PartitionMagic or such? Then lock the new drive using the key of course.
