Right firstly I broke a softmod. Badly broke it. (I managed to wipe C: drive, and then E: drive, no backup or anything). I have since tried to repair it using the Hot Swop method, and all seemed to go well, but now when I put the Drive back in the Xbox, I get an error 16 code straight away. According to the Error code listing it's to do with the clock not being set. Can anyone suggest a fix for this or am I totally screwed? I have a mod-chipped xbox in the house as well, could I use this to fix the fault in anyway?
All help is gratefully received

Are you still able to cold boot games? If you can, re-install the softmod. Then use AID to put a retail dash on c:. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

mod chipped box=very good...
option 1, if the chip is solderless (or you feel you can flawlessly unsolder and resolder the chip) put it in the previously softmodded xbox
then just run the AID disk and chose to install the softmod then you can just take out the chip and put it back in the original xbox
second option, get the hard drive on the softmodded xbox unlocked and put it in the chipped box. run the AID disk and chose the softmod install option then just pop the hard drive back into the softmodded box

Unfortunatly when I formatted the thing, it took off the softmod installer, so this isn't an option.
da-goat, I doubt my chip is compatable with this broken Xbox, (It's a 1.6b) and my chipped box has an xecuter 2.4 or something, in it.
I had considered what you you said about unlocking the drive and putting it in my chipped box, but the problem then would be locking it again to go back into the softmod box. I have no eprom backup of the broken box, so therefore can't re-lock it. Past experience tells me that if the drive isn't locked then the xbox won't work
Thanks for the suggestions though

do my hotswap tutorial
look in tutorial section
I've tried pirrup, as I said all seemed to go well with it, but afterwards putting the drive back into the xbox, this error 16 reared it's ugly head. (before the hotswap, the MS Dash flashed up briefly before going to the error screen, since the hotswap it goes instantly to the error screen)
In fact I'm considering trying to do the Hotswap again, except I'm unsure if it will let me. I switch the Xbox on, the flubber screen comes on, and then straight after, I get the error message, I don't get the big XBox logo, or the microsoft symbol anymore.

Well I just thought I'd let you all know that I managed to get this problem fixed (Phew!). As I was getting nowwhere with it I decided to leave if for a couple of days and come back to it relaxed and refreshed. I sat down and checked the whole procedure from start to finish and realised where I had gone wrong. In my panic and haste to repair the Xbox, I had extracted BOTH the ms-c.zip and ms-e.zip into the linux/c folder. I pondered on this and then realised the the ms-c.zip goes in the linux/c directory, and ms-e.zip goes into the linux/e folder. I did this and reburned the Iso, and hey presto, a working Xbox again.
Thank you to all who tried to help, and a HUGE pat on the back to pirrup for his Hot Swap tutorial. You've just saved me £100 for a new xbox. Thank you
