hi, this is knave, i've been modding xbox for a while know, and i'm good with soldering, but recently i've been gathering info and reading tutorials, this and that about softmoding, and i think i want to go for it, but it seem that just about any forums except for this one, you don't get answers
so i'm gonna be to the point with the questions. all help is appreciated
1.- might sound stupid, but does the SID softmod exploit allow you to run backups (unsigned code, backups....hdd burnt)???
2.- i've been reading about *PBL* and some dual boot function i don't understand, now i want to know since i didn't find it in the rar. Where is the bios loaded from and can i ftp a new bios of choice?
3.- does the evox hdd lock use the eeprom.bin, hddinfo.txt.....etc from the cd when the disc is built, to lock drives, or does it base it self on the xbox?
why?
i want to prepare a new not-softmodded xbox hdd for another xbox which i'll softmod first, backup eeprom with evox and ftp to computer, then i'll use that to build my self an hdd format, and hdd locker evox disc so i can put blank hdd in my xbox (this on is modded with smart xx), and format and lock with evox disc. now cause the evox disc will have the eeprom from the other xbox, does that mean that this hdd is gonna be locked with that info, or will it use mine(chipped box)????

1) yes a softmodded xbox can play copys
2) PBL is a bootloader bios (this is used in SID for open or closed tray when booting) so you can go to the SID menu without loading the retail game.
3) with evox you can take a full backup (eeprom , hd key , ...) -> read my tutorials on upgrading a hd with a chipped xbox. (in tutorial section)

thx for the help, and i read your tutorial b4 i posted this, the reason i asked about hdd my way, cause i don't want my chip to be used with eeprom stuff, and i don't want to mess up or such, all i want the chipped xbox for is to format new drive and lock it.
once again. Where is the bios loaded from and can i update it with one of my choice in softmodding?

The bios is loaded of the XBOX HDD is you use PBL LOADER..
You can have up to 2 different bioses for it to boot..
PBL Example:
If you boot with your tray open you will boot bios1..
If you boot with your tray closed you will boot bios2.. (devbios i run)
