Hi guys,
I've got an xecuter 2.3b Lite, and a 120GB HDD. All has been well for a long time. I could ftp fine and do all sorts.
Then I moved house and when I tried to reconnect the xbox to the pc, and ftp (using SmartFTP) I get the following error:
Code:
SmartFTP v1.5.988.32
Resolving host name "192.168.0.3"

Client closed the connection.
I never changed the password at any point! The dashboard I'm using is XBMC.
I tried FlashFXP but it didn't help. I still get this error:
Code:
[R] Connecting to 192.168.0.3 -> IP=192.168.0.3 PORT=21
[R] Connected to 192.168.0.3

I can however ping the xbox fine so the network settings must be ok. Any other ideas why it won't work?
I also tried booting to my original dashboard (EvolutionX) where I confirmed that the password was infact xbox...
Could it be the port I am using? Or some kind of firewall thing?
Hope you can help - thanks loads!!
Mikey

yeah- make sure your firewalls are off. And it wouldent hurt to re-check the port. Oh, secondly - are you running this through a router-
and something else is what kind of cable are you using (Cross over, patch)
Gimmie gimmie some info- and i'll hook you up!

Thanks for the reply.
I've tried turning the Firewall off but no luck. Is there an alternative port to port 21 that I could use?
I'm using a cross-over cable, not my router.
The ip of the xbox is set to 192.168.0.3. My ip is 192.168.0.2 and the Gateway is set to 192.168.0.1.
Any ideas?
Thanks, I really appreciate the help! _________________ XBox version 1.0

Although you have an ip address for your xbox already programmed in evox. Did it by any chance change in your router when you moved? I had that happen to me when I moved my stuff from one room to another. It was only disconnected for about 30mins, but everything changed. Look into that, it might be the problem. _________________

Well in XBMC, you can configure the ip and the gateway yourself. When I set the ip to 192.168.0.3 and the gateway to 192.168.0.1, and then the gateway on my computer to the same, I can ping the xbox with no problem. I just can't login.
When I try booting to evoX, it reverts to the default 192.168.100.10 with a gateway of 192.168.100.1. If I change the settings accordingly on my computer, then I can still ping the box, but not ftp to it... I still get the above errors...
Btw, I'm assuming that to boot the box in ftp mode, you have to make sure you dont have the AV cable plugged into the back? And that green and orange flashing light means ftp mode? That's how I've always done it anyway...

Ok well I've tried a different approach. I've linked my xbox up to the router instead. It has connected because XBMC has updated the weather, and the news ticker is displaying the latest news on the XBMC main page.
How do I now browse the contents of the xbox drives? I can't see anything in network places...
Thanks for the help guys _________________ XBox version 1.0

if the xbox is on dhcp then you will need to make a new connection for whatever ip is assigned to it @ the time ,
if the xbox is on the static ip you will only need to make one connection _________________ Xbox v1.0/1.1/1.5/1.6a

I've never been able to see the files using smartFTP. The only one that lets me see the actual files has been Flashfxp. Maybe I don't have it setup correctly, but Flashfxp lets me see and transfer directly to any file in my folders. _________________
