is it possible in anyway to beable to use an xbox without the auctual eeprom chip? proveded i have an unlocked hard drive and dont want to get on live, what kind of information does the eeprom chip hold that is nessecery for the xbox to run? thanks for your help...

You can only boot cromwell without it. The Hacked Bios' require it
It contains:
Motherboard S/N
Time Settings
Video Regions
DVD Dongle Code
HDD Key (Generated on the fly from other factors)
And some other little bits of info.
Sorry to say you need it man. You can buy a scrapped board from llamma.com for $10 us and get a chip off that ( i believe the physical chip IS interchangable, however the image contained upon it is not...meaning the image is version specific.
Like I said, you can boot cromwell without a problem for linux or such...but don't expect much gaming action. _________________ XBOX v1.6
