OK, I have a standared 1.0 xbox with no HDD in it. I don't have the original HDD. I want to add a new HDD wich I will first prepare with my PC using XBOXHDM. I have the C,E, and F files of another softmod BOX copied to a CD.

My question is, once XBOXHDM is finnished, do I simply plug that drive into the non-mod xbox or is ther something I must do before that? I don't want a 250GB paper weight! Shocked

Thanks....

Just don't lock the HDD until you're done and you won't have any paper weights. Besides, if you really had to, you could force a format anyways. As far as plugging a hard drive of that size in to a non modded xbox. I doubt it would work. The Xbox won't know how to use anything of that magnitude.

you will get service error

because a retail box or a softmodded xbox needs a locked hd, so you will need to have the eeprom from that box to lock the disk first .

auto locking would be nice but MS isn't that stupid Smile

if you dont have the old stock drive or a backup of the EEPROM then you will have to install a modchip.. It will work fine then..

Modchips are always the best way.. You dont need to rely on software then and you can format and reistall stuff as you like..
